I would think so. Then again, my daughter can get my 2.5 4 banger auto into 12-13 mpg. It's a shame some V8's do better. Such is the curse of the short trip type busy person.
The Envoy has been in for service for poor fuel mileage on 4 seperate occasions. No codes, a clean bill of health on all fronts. Sensor inputs are within range, TPS, temp sensors, etc. Fuel pressure is at spec at the rail. The PCM has been reflashed with factory issue code, a patch for the factory code, and now, the supposed latest and greatest code after the dealer contacted GM powertrain. The district service rep authorized the dealer to change my oil to M1, because "synthetics give better mileage." For free.. Without calling me... Whoopee, that made a heck of a difference.

That mileage is tough to take, considering that I have a '04 Silverado Ext. Cab 2wd with the 295 hp 5.3 liter V8... and I can get 16 mpg in town and 22 mpg on the highway.
Heck, I can still get 12 mpg when pulling a 7500# travel trailer.
I know it doesn't help any, but some vehicles just aren't right from day one. Sounds like you got one. I had an '86 Mercury Cougar that had an intermittent condition on the TP sensor, and 3 times I rolled into the dealership with the throttle 'stuck' at 3000 rpm. After several tries, Ford never could fix it.
My boss's wife bought a new Aztek, and it was at the dealership more than it was in their garage. That thing was simply posessed. After several ECM's and three transmissions (plus many other swapped out items later), it got traded for a Jeep Liberty. The poor slob that has that Aztek now...

It is marketing gimmick nothing more nothing less. To think of it as anything else is at best naive.

GM hasn't made it's own filters for years. AC-Delco is now just a name they put on a box of whatever third party product was cheapest. What used to be the AC-Delco filter making business was kicked out of the family with the rest of the rag tag Delphi group. Delphi then kicked the filter business, the battery business, the alternator business, the starter business and others on down the road to yet other owners. There is no such thing really as an AC-Delco product anymore, at least not in terms of dedicated design and manufacturing.
You might also be surprised to know that many "Wix" filters are third party products, especially for imports. The last "Wix" fuel filter I bought was inked Made in China on the can.
Finally, if you fell for the "Professional Grade" marketing that is sort of sad. A GMC truck is 99.9999% pure Chevy, the rest is marketing.
And what is wrong with them being 99% Chevrolet? I've had three Chevrolet trucks that have all been comfortable, reliable, and tough trucks.

I don't think his statement meant that anything was "wrong", he was just stating that if you change the emblems, grille, and steering wheel, then you'd have a Chevy Trailblazer.
Chevy/GMC pickups are the same way. When sitting in the cab, it is impossible to know if you're in a Silverado or a Sierra. The only tip off is the logo in the center of the steering wheel.
And that is why I drive a DODGE!!!

Well, even though the Chevy Silverado and GMC Seirra are the same truck except badges - I bought the GMC Denali version and that sets the truck off atleast a little more. My crewcab has a Denali specific interior (2tone leather, gray wood trim and a color matched steering wheel, unique console with CD changer, etc.), Denali specific exterior with the famous grill, body colored bumpers and side trim, side steps and the one item NOT avail on the regular trucks - the AWD coupled to a 345hp (instead of 300) version of the 6.0L.
So, my crewcab Denali is different than the run of the mill Seirra or Silverado but darn I sure paid for that!

Based on my check in late '07 / early '08, there ain't a lick of difference.

Theyr'e the same basic G.M parts . G.M. is a more loaded Chevrolet.

My wife has a trailblazer. She is no lead foot and gets around 15 in town and 17 highway. This vehicle is just a cheap POS that cost way more than it was worth. My 4.8L V-8 silverado got 17/23 before I changed the gearing to 4.56. Now it gets considerably less, but oh the power difference. I will never buy another GM. Ford has been much more warrantee friendly, and I have had much less (almost none) problems with them.

Yes, dealerships can be awful. I've had my fairshare of stories I could share. I always wished GM would own all the dealerships so they could be "controlled". But, they are all independently owned and operated businesses....sad part is how the treat the customer always falls on GM's reputation even when it isn't actually GM doing the bad.

Thats the main reason I'm glad they're shutting down a lot of the worthless dealerships now. I've been in plenty of Ford/Chevy dealerships where they wouldnt even give me the time of day because I wasnt 40 years old.
