Had this fine automobile pass all the no trespassing signs then go through my first gate that I normally leave open. They stopped at my 2nd gate and turned around at the worst possible spot.

Missing a fender and bumper. Imo they are up to no good. Who drives a junker like that around that's not looking for trouble?

It would be somewhat expensive for sure but a one time investment in "one way spikes" that fold down for the "correct direction" but extend and puncture tires the wrong way installed between two large boulders or rocks (so they cant go around) would stop this. Its doable.

The concept of curtilage is they can drive up your lane. Yes technically your no trespassing sign voids curtilage - if they see it.

Solution is to put a gate up at the road.

The situation is different here. I believe there’s a difference when the customer’s beater car is on Chris’s rack vs. his driveway (with several No Trespassing signs).

I disagree completely. How many people who get punctured tires stay right there? They repair their tires, or get road service, or a wrecker or something and go. Regardless, its clear the "deterrent effect" of the spikes will stop 99% of the trespassing. No one wants blown tires.

We had a long 6-8 mile canal we would use to get our boats into this section of many smaller ones where we could limit out on all sorts of freshwater fish by 11:00am every time. We did it for several years. We then heard a bunch of rich fellows from the city either leased or bought up the property the main canal ran thru. Heard they wanted it for deer hunting purposes and cared less about the fish in those woodland canals. One day we found someone had planted and welded a 6" pipe frame with gates of 4" pipe that were wide open.
One could clearly see the big locking mechanism they had installed too. There was a brand new type of float right in front of the gate with a sign. The sign said. WARNING - Do not get caught beyond this gate or else. - You may be locked in or worse. Of course that was my last trip. Latter I heard some who did not respect the sign got caught in there and had a nasty armed confrontation that almost led to a wild shootout with some hunters. No thanks. I respect private property always. Too bad many do not respect owners rights.
