In this area, older PF57 stock looks identical in construction to the sturdy SAAB filter I dissected in this thread. I like these UK-made filters because they pack a lot of media into a smaller case, have a strong, thick center tube, and have a solid bypass valve.
Newer PF57 stock looks identical in construction to other filters made by Champion Labs, including the aforementioned PF1127, EXCEPT that the PF57 has the bypass valve mounted at the front (at the baseplate end) which some people seem to prefer (said to prevent dirt from recirculating during filter bypass). It's hard to front-bypass filters in this Honda size, but it looks like I've found one...
