And now for something completely different

Won't have time this week, plus I'm digging the mixing.

This is another big no-no but something I may end up doing - different ratios and products, similar idea. Don't have enough PP 5W30 for my next OC (or the top ups I'll need), the WMs here have been selling it so cheap that all that's left on the firesale price is 10W30 (and after some research, its perfect for my application). But then what to do with the left over 5W30?

With the anticipated OC going ahead just before winter, I'm thinking about tossing in all the 5W30 I have left, and topping up with the 10W30 I plan to pick up. I'll have about 2 & 1/2 quarts of the 5W30 left by then and a 4 quart sump. No sense in leaving it to collect dust. Even less in waiting for them to restock the 5W30 and sell it at full price (twice what I can stash the onsale 10W30 for).

Decisions, decisions. Hrmm.

Well,If you must change it only 1x per year, you picked the right time of year to change. Cheers, man.

This car gets about 2 changes a year or so on average...a 2006 with 71,000 miles. Didn't blow up during the warranty period. Time for truly extended OCI's.......not really. I think 2X the OLM is about max which works out to 12-14K miles. Short hauler, fuel blower. Pretty hard on oil.

I am glad the AT is holding up well. The ATF now stays new, not much if anything on the magnet. I'll do a U-ATF-A in spring.
