I used dry graphite on a padlock and it was sticky again within like six weeks. Used WD40 and it has been fine for at least six months 🤣

I've rarely had any problems with door locks, but on occasion have had good luck with carb cleaner sprayed in with a tube, followed up by dipping the tip of the key in transmission fluid or motor oil and working it into the lock.

There is dedicated oil to be used in locks, no need to use anything else.
Lesson learned here.....I was sure dry Teflon type lube would work but disappointed in the results. Tranny fluid works well but will buy the dedicated stuff next time....
