No, I guess I misread it. While were at it though, what happens if I place an order in June for example? PC status is renewed as of June 2010, or October 2009 when it expired?

You mean you have to wait a year if you want to sign up as a PC under a different sponsor? I didn't know that

The renewal will be active for one year from the day you renew.

The reasoning has been explained.

Why does amsoil try to doop customers into paying sales tax for online out of state purchases? I have never understood this how I can buy from a million other companies but they want to charge sales tax and nobody else does.

Why do people always/automatically think Amsoil is doing things to scam people? Please answer this for me. If you bothered to actually find out, you might learn that Amsoil operates in all states, and is therefore obligated to pay state/local sales tax.

"doop", I think you mean "dupe". Since when is following the law a bad thing? Before accusing, educate. So smart...."never understood", now you can understand how the crazy tax laws work in the USA.

Well, perhaps I haven't seen the explanation. Your surly attitude and flippant answers are why I stopped using you for my Amsoil needs.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

It was explained several posts above. Not flippant or surly at all, sorry if I came across that way.

postjeeprcr, what's up with the cheerleader thing?

You may search alittle into Amsoils business and I think you may find the truth.

Everyone can go to AZ.GOV and search for AZ resistered business. you must register to get a AZ State Tax ID. Amsoil Has neither.

I laugh at all of the hotheaded answeres from dealers and they don't realize how much business they lose Amsoil.

Plenty of dealers selling Amsoil and doing business in AZ. The count as taxable entities and representatives of Amsoil, selling a taxable product. The names on the businesses are Napa or Joe Smith's Lubricants. This is not hot headed, it's just the truth.

You say Amsoil is "duping" the public....these are not polite words, yet I'm somehow the bad guy. Put yourself in my shoes, for a second or two.

Amsoil is not the only company that charges state sales tax for online purchases. Half the stuff I buy online has sales tax added to it. I don't believe Amsoil is duping anyone. The taxes collected on any order are paid to the state the order was shipped to

You guys give Pablo a break. I know of no one that works harder to be up front.

Thanks Johnny. Sorry if sometimes I come across as gruff when I make short statements. Often I'm in too much of a hurry.

Here's some more tax info from Amsoil.com:

AMSOIL Sales Tax Information
AMSOIL collects sales tax on your purchases based on either:
1) Suggested Retail prices if the items are for resale; or
2) Dealer Cost if the items are for your personal use. If your order is phoned in, you must notify the
operator that you are purchasing for personal use.
AMSOIL has an established Sales Tax Rate for all states. Because we are sometimes required to collect
city, county and other taxes as well, the tax rate we charge may be higher than just your sales tax. The
current Sales Tax Rates collected by AMSOIL are shown here.
The sales tax rates are set in the following manner:
1) If you pick up your order at a Distribution Center, you will be charged the sales tax applicable at that
point-of-sale, that is, the prevailing tax rate at the Distribution Center location. (Exception: State of
Washington requires us to charge WA Sales Tax on products picked up in Portland by Dealers residing in
WA; State of California requires us to charge CA Sales Tax on products picked up in Portland and Las
Vegas by dealers residing in California).
2) If you sell any product at a different price than the "Suggested Retail": a) you are entitled to a tax
refund if you sell it at a lower rate, b) you are required to pay additional tax if you sell it at a higher rate. In
either case, submit a G20 Sales Tax Form and supporting documentation to AMSOIL INC.

Spray, Power Foam and Engine Flush.
Texas:
• There is a $0.01 per quart tax on automotive oils. This includes: engine oil, diesel oil, gear lubes,
transmission fluid and hydraulic/transmission fluid.
Utah:
• There is a $0.04 per quart lubricating oil fee pertaining to all containers except those 55 Gallons
or larger on the following lubricants: engine oil, diesel oil, shock therapy oil, gear lube, hydraulic
oil, chain and gear oil and compressor oil.

The reason Amsoil must collect sales Tax is because there are (presumably) dealers in every state. Since the business is represented in a state with a 'store' they are obliged to provide the proper amount of tax to that state when sales are made.

It's federal law. When you buy something on Amazon or some place like that, you need only pay sales tax if you reside in the same state as the business - that's why most people think that there are "no sales taxes online."

More info (too much I think!!) Yes it's part of the Uniform Sales Tax laws. This is from the exemption form.

Quote:

AMSOIL INC. G-495
United States Uniform Sales Tax Certificate
INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING UNIFORM SALES & USE TAX CERTIFICATE
To Seller’s Customers:
In order to comply with the majority of state and local sales tax law requirements, the seller must have in its files a properly executed
exemption certificate from all of its customers who claim a sales tax exemption. If the seller does not have this certificate, it is obliged
to collect the tax for the state in which the property or service is delivered.
If the buyer is entitled to sales tax exemption, the buyer should complete the certificate and send it to the seller at its earliest
convenience. If the buyer purchases tax free for a reason for which this form does not provide, the buyer should send the seller its
special certificate or statement.
Caution to Seller:
In order for the certificate to be accepted in good faith by the seller, seller must exercise care that the property or service being sold is
of a type normally sold wholesale, resold, leased, rented or incorporated as an ingredient or component part of a product manufactured
by buyer and then resold in the usual course of its business. A seller failing to exercise due care could be held liable for the sales tax
due in some states or cities. Misuse of this certificate by seller, lessor, buyer, lessee, or the representative thereof may be punishable
by fine, imprisonment or loss of right to issue certificate in some states or cities.

AMSOIL INC. is registered to collect sales tax in each state and in most
local jurisdictions where applicable. This is a service provided by AMSOIL,
so that all Dealers do not need to register with their states and local
jurisdictions to collect sales tax. Taxes are automatically calculated on the
suggested retail prices of a Dealer’s order. Therefore, when a Dealer sells
this product and charges sales tax, they keep the sales tax amount because
this tax has already been collected and paid by AMSOIL to the respective
state/providence. This is valid as long as the tax rate charged is the same
as the rate that AMSOIL charged on the original purchase.

Quote:
Arizona - This certificate is not valid as an exemption certificate. This certificate is for use when making sales of tangible personal
property for resale in the ordinary course of business, pursuant to A.R.S. §42-1328, Burden of proving sale not at retail.

I paid tax on RL FI cleaner I bought on Amazon.com. I think greenaccord02 summed it up pretty good.
