Amsoil Oversized Oil Filter Substitutions

For those using Amsoil, there are a number of overtsized oil filters that can be used. Amsoil equips all their filters with both an antidrainback valve; most also have an internal by-pass valve. In many cases the oversized filter is simply a longer version of the stock item. These are some common filter substitutions I've used:

Stock Filter/Substitute Oversized Filters

SDF-57/SDF-34/SDF-96 (toyota/Saturn)
SDF-34/SDF-96/SDF-15 (many early VW/Audi engines)
SDF-29/SDF-23 (many GM V-6 engines)
SDF-20/SDF-36 (many Honda/Isuzu engines)
SDF-96/SDF-15 (early model Toyota/Datsun engines)
SDF-15/SDF-26 (many Ford V-6/V-8 engines)
SDF-25/SDF-24 (many GM V-8's)
SDF-41/SDF-99 (early Ford Powerstroke diesels)
SDF-13/SDF-20 (many Nissan/Mitsu/Mazda engines)

When making any filter substitution, you should always make sure their is sufficient clearance to remove the filter and that it doesn't hit anything as the engine moves on its' mounts. You should also make sure the filter doesn't hang significantly below the engine, where it may be impacted by road debrie.

I love that SDF-15. (FL-1A equivalent) It will fit most Fords with 3/4-16 and fitting the big size isn't an issue...

Got two of them hanging off my dual remote right now.

I'm actually going down from the SDF 26 to the 15, hopefully this will reduce my overall cost. As the 15 is quite a bit cheaper and it won't take as much makeup oil when I change it. As I have been going over the 6 month interval now.

SDF-30 will replace the SDF-64. This filter will fit the Chev/GMC 4.8, 5.3, & 6.0 engines

The SDF-64 has no by-pass valve - the SDF-32 does, so I would be a tad careful.

What I don't have knowledge on:

GMC Sierra 6.0L gas V8:

2002 -> SDF-64
2003 -> SDF-32

What changed for the 2003 model year?

The SDF64 does have a bypass valve and a anti drainback valve. The Amsoil application Book has a misprint about this filter. I have cut one open and it does have the bypass valve.
The SDF30 has both of these valves too.

The SDF64 is bigger than the SDF32 but where does the SDF30 fall? Is it bigger than the 64??

SDF-30 is 4.822" long according to the book.

32 is 3.494" long
64 is 4.094" long

all are 2.920" OD

PF25 = SDF25
PF35 = SDF24

Tooslick, do you have the by-pass valve settings for the SDF-20? I'm just curious to the BPV settings since I'm using this oil filter in my Maxima. Hope the specs are close to OEM. Also, my other car uses the SDF-10. Is there an oversized filter for the SDF-10? Application is '92 Camry 2.2L 5S-FE. Thanks in advance.

Please note, the chart is not up to date. There are some changes in reference to by-pass valve an drain back valve in the SDF64, they now have them where that chart says none. That is the most current chart I could get. It should get updated when Hastings prints the new catalogs whenever?

I'm staring at a disassembled SDF-24 (for the upcoming new version of the "Grease 1218 study") and it does not have a by-pass valve. Either the chart is off or I have an old filter. I would think the former since the 24 maps to the 1218 which doesn't call for one.

I can "upgrade" from the SDF57 based on this data. But, I have the SDF13 size as well, and would like to use the SDF20 size, but I don't understand how that can be done since their OD, ID GSKT, OD GSKT, and PSID are all different. Any help here would be appreciated.
