i was reading up on wikipedia about synthetic oils. the article i am reading cites motul as the first synthetic oil to meet api standards, in 1971.

i seem to remember amsoil claiming to be the first synthetic oil to meet api standards, but in 1972. the wikipedia atricle does not seem to state a source of info. one the less it would be interesting if true.
i put in an email to motul to inquire about this. i have not recieved a reply yet. i also emailed a texas based motul distributor with the same question.
wondering if one of you guys could shed some light on the subject.
