I am thinking about putting Amsoil in my g/f's 05 Camry SE with a 3.3 V-6. I have heard that Toyota Ok'd 5w-20 in the V-6 engine. Any experience with this engine and amsoil would be greatly appreciated!

Not with that engine, but i use Amsoil ASM 0w20 in my Mazda6s V-6, which also specs 5w20. I'm going to do a 1 year OCI, also using an Amsoil oil filter. Time will tell.
I don't have the Toyota bulletin, but I would stick with XW-30 in the 3MZ-FE in Az. Maybe that's just me...and I'm pretty much a thin is in dude.

So with that, I'd recommend 5w30 and change it every 5k or 6 months unless you have more than 60k on the engine, then do what you'd like!

Amsoil S3K 5W30 would be what I would choose. I doubt you will be able to get 12 months out of any oil in AZ though due to dust. Your air filter will not catch it all and it will ruin the oil! The only way I would consider a 12 month oil change in your area would be with bypass filtration. This will get the dust out of the oil and would allow you to make the 12 month mark propably easily.
I have the same engine in my wife's 2005 Highlander. You could use 10w30 Pennzoil Platinum (PP) and be okay for 7,500 miles. Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 would be okay, too, as would Schaeffer's newer 5w30 Full Synthetic (I'm running it in the Toyo right now) or the Amsoil 5w30 that Pablo has recommended.
If it's out of warranty (4/60k?), you could try Mobil 1 0w20 or Amsoil's 0w20, but you're better off sticking with the 5w or 10w30 oils.

Amsoil is great oil when used it in the manner it is intended for: very long drains. Run it at least 10k miles, and do a used oil analysis to determine whether it would be suitable for even longer on future runs. Many people here have run Amsoil products 15k-25k and even longer with good results. If you don't intend to do that then in my humble opinion you will get much better value for your money from an off-the-shelf synthetic like Pennzoil Platinum (up to 10k-12k), a regular PCMO (5k-7500) or something like Valvoline's Maxlife Blend.

The 2006 had a shorter dipstick which allowed more oil in the crank case.
Thats all we DO know. I doubt that they changed the mfg of the engine since they are made many months before going into the bodies.
With that, I have only used 5w30 in my 2005 Corolla and will stay with it. My used oil analysis have been excellent and the MPG is great.
I'm trying a new oil and with 4k miles on it so far I've used 24 oz of makeup oil and its a 5w30. I wonder how much 5w-20 it would have been?

My 99 isn't Toyota. I bought it used with 155,000 miles, P/O used 10w30. Since this model is back-speced for 5w20, that's what I changed to and now on cool mornings there is unusual engine noise during warm-up so you should observe the note at the bottom of the tsb when choosing oil grade.

..and you don't experience this unusual noise as a heavier oil transitions through the exact same viscosity
