Amsoil filters

I just bought a SDF-10 for my camry, which is VERY picky when it come to oil filters. I hope it works well.
Good idea. What "advantage" caused you to go to the Amsoil filter in the first place? The Motorcraft filters seem to be good quality other than the cases seem a bit thin. Don't know that its's a problem in real life though, and they are under $3 at Walmart...

If I remember right, the fl820s is the same filter for a mustang cobra. I have a buddy who has one, and he said that no parts stores carry it around here. He has to buy it at the dealer for 13 bucks!!! For some reason, he believes that it is the only filter that will work on his ford.
I went to Amsoil filters because I am doing the extended oil change interval thingy. I know that Amsoil has a much better media & is designed for extended intervals.
I was wondering the other night. If the Amsoil ADBV proves to be faulty - what if I buy a Motorcraft filter, cut the 2 filters apart, switch the ADBV in the Amsoil filter & then weld it back together? I'm gonna have to cut them both up to find out if the ADBV's are interchangable.

The only reason we know about Amsoil filters being good for extended periods is that the rubber materials in the gasket and ADBV probably won't harden as soon as some other brands. Baldwin might build in filter media that holds more stuff, but then again, any quality filter might do that.

The Motorcraft parts are all marked "long life oil filter" and the element is similar to a Pure-1. I don't think it's a low quality item. So far I've had no problems running Fl-1A's 10Kmiles +- and a year, and they don't even have a silcone ADBV...

I do know that life was much easier when I changed my Castrol GTX & Motorcraft FL-820s every 3000 miles. I didn't worry about my oil wearing out, sending samples at the post office, or how many of what size micons were floating around in my engine. Now I'm suddenly paranoid about lubrication in my engines, transmissions, etc...

I bought a Amsoil filter for my old VW Rabbit just to help my Amsoil buddy move some stock from his shelves. Just out of curiosity I put my mouth up to the center hole in the filter and I could easily draw air through the center hole and I could easily blow air back through the filter. It made a wheezing noise of course but my normal Mann filters are sealed up tight as drums.
Personally I don't think the Amsoil filters are a quality product. The two filters that I compared were a Amsoil SDF-15 and a Mann W940/25. The Amsoil filter cost 2.5 times as much, had a flimsy housing compared to the Mann, and the ADBV obviously didn't do much in terms providing anti-drain back.
This is just my opinion,,,,,,

I'm now in the same paranoid state of mind ( which oil, what vis., what interval, to bypass or not bypass).
Forget the hospital and drugs. Just use auto-rx as a laxative and you'll be as good as new. Unfortunately, it only works on mild cases. Extreme cases require an auto-rx enima!!!

Sounds like we have a Lube Control problem here. No wait, nobody mentioned using LC now did they? Oh lube control as in lubrication flow charracteristic control. Now I get it. ADBV, LC, SDF, STP, LMNOP.
