Watch for an online ordering system where you tell them the filter or dimensions of filter you want and it will be custom made for you. That is right, just about any imaginable filter made just for you. You can expect to pay for it and have about a 4 week delay to receive it.

You heard it from o2man98 first.

Sounds extremely intriguing, do you have any more details?

Do I have to give the measurements or just the manufacturer and filter number?

Harry

Both and I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting a used/new one from the application! I have heard there is a new batch coming soon - maybe including Volvo. I haven't heard about Honda yet.

According to a recent Email from Amsoil, they write that they are looking for ways to make some of the filters that are not yet available, including my Civic?

We have all heard this lately....but no details....Amsoil will essentially make filters for all production cars, given time and money.

What some fail to realize is that filters for many import brands (even if car made is USA) are imported from plants in countries off-shore (Europe and far east) and that adds to the problem of getting the EA filters made, no plants in USA have tooling to make them. These plants off-shore may or may not be run by one of Amsoils filter partners and there may be patent problems in allowing the technology to be used.

For the heck of it, I just went and looked at a WIX filter for my 2005 CTS that I have, its made in Poland. The AC Delco one is made in Mexico. They are not spin-on btw, cartridge type and no EaO available nor an EaA for the Cadillac. The air filter is made for AC by Donaldson but you cannot buy it from them. The WIX looks surprising like the Donaldson filter that is in the AC Delco/GM box. It says Donaldson on the one in the Delco box but nothing on the one in the WIX even though they are identical right down to the every detail.

I guess given time, Eaa filters will be available for most cars. With so many running around, they will have to change the filter sooner (hopefully) or later and some manufacturer will provide a model to suit. I looks like many filters are made abroad due to cost considerations, as long as the quality is maintained, that should not be a problem. This is the world we now live in Mike. I just picked up an AFE dry filter...........made in USA.

I find it extremely strange that there isn't a single EaA filter for Hondas. I see people say that Amsoil will only make them for large-scale production vehicles because they will have the most demand... but the ultra-common Accord and Civic have none available. Yet 70's-era Audis and Lotus' get EaAs. And so do '93 Mercury Villagers. And the Ascender. Does anybody here know anyone who owns an Ascender? Exactly.

Just calling it as I see it. I guess I'm a little

, since I'm a Civic owner.

Coming soon, Jan 2008 (+-). Seen the list, Civics, Accords and many other popular import brands as well as popular domestics, mostly newer cars late 90's up. About a doz new models as well as custom make you own online. You will be able to get an EaA for just about any vehicle. But you control how its built and no returns if you screw it up. Available only online, you don't sent them any filter. You have to design it and prepay. They have had about 10 requests for Edsel's from one dealer.

Where did I see it? At Duluth Convention Center regional sales meeting.

Was a slide presentation of products in the pipeline. All I recall is import brands like Accord, Civic and other import brands which I am not up on, newer popular GM (Impala, Malibu), DC (Hemi) and Furd cars and trucks + custom make your own. It was toward the end and I was anxious to get out of there.

Thanks Mike, these are exciting times. I am pleased to see Amsoil has not forgotten all the Hondas running around out there. I plan to get a custom Eaa filter as soon as they announce the program. I know how butt tired you can get at these meetings, don't blame you for wanting to get going.

I just called the Amsoil home office today and asked them if there were any plans to add Honda air filters. I was told there were no plans. I need to get this verified as I was just about to place an order for WIX filters for my 2006 Accord and 2005 Pilot. Can someone confirm this for us Honda owners and what Hondas will be supported????

I am sorry I got your hopes up. My info was meant to let you know what was in the pipeline but they DID NOT say when. It could be 1 month or it could be 6 months.

I just got back from the regional sales meeting. They showed lots of new filters. Many for Honda (looked like most of them). Jan 1 was the target date ..but the guy seemed stressed with saying that.

They also got a number for my Wranglers ..finally.
