They just made these available for the MK IV (1999.5-2005) VW's. (not sure if it will fit the 2005 Jetta which is actually a MK V)

The EaA201 for the Jeep Liberty is finally out. Although it is a direct drop in panel filter, it has twice the filtering surface of the OEM paper filter...~1800 square inches vs ~900 square inches. It has almost twice as many pleats and the pleats are 1/4" longer.

Amsoil will announce new fitments of the Eaa filter just after the first of the new year, alas, still no Civic filter planned.

There's no filter for my 06 Ford Fusion. Consequently, these would be the same filters for the Mazda6's. So, no filters for that vehicle either. I wonder what their selection process is. The Fusion is becoming a fairly popular car.

Seems to me the selection process is weighted to individual requests as much as it is to number of vehicles produced - and they (Amsoil filter folks) aren't always aware of common usage such as the Mazda and Ford example you give.
Manufactureres could fix the problem if they would go to a few standard sizes, then replacement parts would be easyer to get and maybe cheaper, too.
