That makes sense. Well, my original statement stands, but the look of it would not really matter.It's not "stitched" together. It's bonded, and the black stuff you're seeing is the wire backing material sticking out of the seam.

Thanks.I took a leap and ordered another filter. It arrived and I inspected. Results below
@Pablo
I think someone at amsoil made some good moves in sourcing or conversations with suppliers saying they need to improve. I didn’t see any glue on the inside. At all. Zero reservations in using this one.

im right here with you. i would pay top dollar for someone to remake a filter like the OG ultra but with a coil spring.Psst… Donaldson if you’re listening… I’d pay $18-20 for Synteq 99%@15u media, punched flow holes & silicone BPV in the FE10575 and FE7317-sized filters with coil spring BPVs at factory-rated pressures… $25 if external surfaces (including block thread area) are formed in 300-series stainless sheet with no paint

agreed. Finally one worthy of the Amsoil name!Looks great!
Date code looks to be 9/23/24 on this one, so not real new construction. The sloppy one was 2/23/24. So hard to say if manufacturing QA improved or it's luck of the draw. When was sloppy QA first noted on Amsoil filters. There were sloppy louvers brought up on some models too a while back.I took a leap and ordered another filter. It arrived and I inspected. Totally plausible luck of the draw. I do hope seven months is enough time for a smaller operation to jerk a knot into someone’s backside should it be needed though. But to your point, yes - that remains to be seen.Date code looks to be 9/23/24 on this one, so not real new construction. The sloppy one was 2/23/24.
