Anyone want to correct this guy?

There were many problems and tribulations over the next 10 years or so caused by Mobil 1 and "ARCO" with their "Graphite" oil. Mobil 1 copied almost word for word, the back of the AMSOIL cans of the day, about 25,000 mile oil changes. It wound up that they couldn't do it and still have not been able to. The "Graphite" oil did nothing but leak out. This is where a lot of what is thought about Synthetics even today is carried forward.

He has it backwards, there were issues with Amsoil and dilution and also Amsoil copied Mobil 1 shortly after and became a PAO based oil. Gotta love these guys

"There were many problems and tribulations over the next 10 years or so..."

The Engrish is strong in this one...

The problem with Mobil 1 and 25,000 mile OCI's back in the day was that people were not checking there oil.

There is an Amsoil Dealer in my area and he advocates that anyone who does extended drains should check there oil and keep an extra quart of oil with them.

Never been an Amsoil fan, though their oil is of good quality, its the sales people alone that keeps me away. Had some BAD experiences with Amsoil Dealers BAD BAD experiences. Will never use their products even if it was free on principle alone.

I used it for almost two decades exclusively and NEVER dealt with any crazies. I bought it direct. Still buy some greases and brake fluids, compressor oils, gear oil and such.

Great stuff, absolutely near the top of any list based solely on performance. Just a bit pricey.

I'm an Amsoil fan, and I don't even have the guts to say anything bad about M1 on this site or any site a member of BITOG looks at....

You'd have to be crazy to say anything detrimental about the magic elixer of the gods 'M1'.

The same guy is also a sponsor on a Vulcan forum I used to frequent. I tried correcting his [censored] a number of times there. He always gets defensive and then I get warning messages from the mods, basically asking me not to disturb a paying sponsor or else...

It's people like him that give Amsoil bad reputation.

Gotta separate the product from the salesman.

My toyota sales guy said I should hurry back because they sell 1 Echo every day; I almost burst out laughing. I suppose that is why they took my offer of $700 less than list.

From the link,

Mobil 1 ...can, it said "A 5W-20 oil with the caracteristics of a 10W-40".

From Mobil 1 "SE-CC" (SE is 1972-1979) can with a close-up on EBay.
The actual quote is "Outperforms 10W-40 premium motor oil",
"Allows 25,000 miles between oil changes....Or one year, whichever comes first. New car owners follow warranty instructions."

A product should sell itself on its own merits, and doesn't need to trash the competition in order to make a sale.

I like Amsoil, great products and likely some of the best oils available for consumer use, however when idiots like these are selling it,and advertising like they are they do a great dis-service to the product itself and in all truth it repels potential customers.
Perhaps Pablo can help this particular vendor help himself by adjusting his marketing strategy, and instead of repelling potential customers attracting them by letting the great product that Amsoil is sell itself on its own merit.

There's a youtube video by Dan Watson of Amsoil where he explains
how oil viscosity are tested and that Mobil 0W30 is good enough
for Amsoil to buy for their base stock... Amsoil believes that
Mobil 0W30 is a premium 0W30 is our premium PAO and this is what
Amsoil has bought from Mobil for years...
