I was looking to purchase one of those Vampire suction pumps for drawing some oil samples. I did a search here and ran across a thread that stated that the Amsoil pump was made by Vampire with the Amsoil logo on it. The thread also gave instruction on how to find the pump on one of the Amsoil websites.

So...I went over to the website to order the pump and surprise, what a deal! You could order the "G1451 Oil Analysis Sample Kit" and it came with the G-1206 oil pump. Great, I thought. I could just give the analysis kit away to a friend, since I don't like the labs the kit uses and I'll get my pump for about the same price.

Long story short, all I received was the Oil Analysis Sample Kit, which I don't want, and no oil pump.

Then when I went back to the website so that a could plead my case with Amsoil, it's gone.

If this is the way Amsoil runs their business, guess I never buy anything from them again. Won't recommend them to family and friends either.
Of course, I'll punctuate that non-recommendation with my one and only dissatisfied experience.

How much did you pay? The pump alone is $24.50 (very high quality, I have one) and a preferred customer gets the oil analysis for $15.20 without prepaid postage.

Also, since you don't like the (labs?) I was wondering which labs those were as OAI is sent to only one of the CTC/Stavely Systems labs which are found across the US and Canada. I believe OAI is sent to the one in Ohio. We have a CTC lab here in Phoenix and I have been to it but it is cheaper to mail to OAI (CTC) in Ohio than to drive 90 miles round trip to CTC and get the same price. CTC relabels for many companies including those that have their own lab like Amsoil so I don't understand what you have against them.

CTC/OAI is the best value for your money in my opinion.

Can you give us a link to the thread in question? Let's explore this.

The offer for the pump, I presume??

I'm sure one of the Amsoil reps has an answer here.

msparks always recommended for me to call instead of using the website to order stuff ...at least for the first time. I can see why. Their investment in their web design and function is not "top shelf". The search is almost usless ..even if you put in a bona fide part # ...it may not find it. Some links on the bypass section sends you into endless loops and you have to poke around a great deal.

Why with three Amsoil sponsors of BiTOG would you do business with an unknown? Sure there are dealers out there that sell at a loss, but for how long? The tiny profits we make here, just barely pay our annual BiTOG dues, we sure can ask BiTOG members to shop from us.

This is NOT "Amsoil Business Practices" this was some guy with a website.

Please provide the address. I'm thinking Amsoil took him down.

You take the time to hack the lab (with no real explanation why - I have found the lab as, or more accurate than Blackstone). You take the time the time to hack Amsoil because of ONE questionable web exchange. No private mail to see what we could find out, just blam "Amsoil's Bad".......

He needs to tell us how much he spent for these. Both of those items should have cost around $44 or more.

PC prices
G1206 is $24.95
G1451 is $18.95

There is no part number that includes both the G1206 and the G1451, if you ordered a G1451, thats all you will get.

Maybe you misinterpreted things? Possible?

I want to clarify something on the sample pump.

Amsoil dealers make no margin on the G-1206 pump. It's $24.50. I was even thinking it was discontinued at one time, but that was my mistake because it only shows up in the literature price guide, not the product price guide.

I sell the sample pump for $24.50. If you would like one, contact me via PM, email or cell phone.

Thanks,

Paul

When I searched for it again last night, the thread no longer exist. Had to be here at one time as that's where I searched for a info on buying a pump.

I would like to support the people here, but with a busy schedule, I just did a search for a thread to point me the way to order the pump quickly without having to search through numerous websites. The instructions were accurate, navigating several links and voila, Amsoil website stating to just order the "G1451 Oil
Analysis Sample Kit" to get the "G-1206 oil analysis pump". I wasn't aware there are rogue Amsoil websites that couldn't be trusted to provide accurate information.

And as you stated, the markup is very small on a ~$25 pump. So I didn't think it was depriving any BITOG sponsors of large sums of money. If I was placing a big dollar order, I would of for sure given you my business.

As far as the oil lab, I stated, I "don't like" them. I didn't say they were bad in any way. Am I not entitled to prefer one oil lab over another? Do you think I would give something to one of my friends that is bad in any way?

To my limited knowledge Amsoil never sold a kit G1451 that included the pump.

There are TONS of "Amsoil" sites out there. There are many simple AUTHORIZED dealer sites such as mine, and some pretty good ones (mine sucks). There is only ONE real corporate Amsoil site.

I cannot say what site you stumbled into. I can search BiTOG as well for that thread.

Sure you can prefer one lab over another. It just seemed like a jab, sorry for being defensve, the title of thread bugged me a bit.

Pablo, I appreciate your efforts, but if your time is as valuable as mine, I extracted $27.10 worth of service out of you already.

Let this thread just be a reminder to others to order all Amsoil products directly through reputable dealers here at BITOG as opposed to winging it on various websites.

Thanks again for your efforts.

I appreciate that. I just wanted you to end up with pump you started out trying to get!

Believe me....I just spent over a week trying get a case of oil to a fellow at Camp Lejuene...battling with stinking UPS and their lameness....and I cleared less that $1 on the deal!!
