I've been looking at this oil for a while, and it seems as if Amsoil doesn't want to push it at all. It is hard to find on the website, the information about makes it sound like it some oil for some oil engine or farm equipment. Almost like it is old technology, not as fancy or shinny as some of their other products. I keep seeing really good things about it, and if it meets a 10w30 rating, why not recommend it for automotive use more than they do with the high shear stability and lack of Vii's? It seems like it is a pretty stout oil and would work really well in gasoline engine. I am considering running it my car that calls for 5w20 or 10w30 in warmer conditions since I only drive the car in the summer. TBN12 seems like extended oci would not be a problem in a gasoline engine?? Am I wrong? thoughts?

Nope! Nothing wrong with it IMHO.

I believe ACD goes way back in Amsoil’s product line.

I kind of liken it to Sly Stallone; been around for a while but still packs a punch.

And, it’s “recommended for gasoline engines requiring API SL or previous specifications” so no big deal there.

I see that it states SL, which means in reality it should be fine for an engine calling for SM. Maybe a high zinc level??

Yes,

Phosphorous----1265
Zinc--------------1353

Look for it in the VOA section here.

Thank you, after doing some searching I found it, I was just getting bombarded with Amsoil 10w30 results, and of course no results for ACD lol but after going through some pages I found that. Those look like they are good numbers?

BuickGN has the Acura TL which specs 5w-20 and was using ACD, he is now running Royal Purple. I am using it in my Rio that specs 5W-20 as well. I have also run it in my 1993 F-150 that calls for 10w-30 but was back spec'd by ford to be able to use 5W-20. I have been using it for years in a number of other pieces of equipment on the property, I'd recommended it without hesitation.

Pablo used it in his volvo for an oil change that was more then 1 year.

Not really hard to find if you click on Diesel oils, but I know what you mean - only sold in gallons. I think it's a great oil. I wish Amsoil made a straight 40 as well. The cool thing about ACD it's actually not a heavy 30, so many passenger car engines would enjoy it. Plus the price is excellent.

You guys lol.

I've run ACD in the 5w-20 spec'd TL since it's 3rd oil change which was around 15,000 miles all the way to 77,000 miles. It now has 79,000 miles.

ACD was a wonderful year round oil for me. It flowed fine in the middle of winter and really silenced the valvetrain in the summer. Engine looks like the day it rolled off the assembly line under the valvecover. PCV barely has an oil film on it. I have nothing but good things to say about this oil.

This was right when I made the change to Redline at 77,000.

I switched to Redline out of boredom and I wanted to try an ester based oil. No problems with the ACD.

think I'm going to get a case of this to run in my/gf/ trucks. might even run it in moms 08 RAV4 that calls for 5-30.
I have wondered about using this oil for a while glad this thread popped up.
after g/f 00 RAV beat up some SSO pretty good

might be worth a try.

I would most certainly use ACD in my '95 Civic if it enjoyed the 10W side of the coin but for now she still likes HDD 5W-30. I do use ACD in my four-stroke cycle OPE and I, too, have totally positive things to say about it.

If/when the Civic ever loosens up I'll probably run ACD in it...

It is a HDEO which are designed to protect high speed diesel and gasoline engines in the most demanding commercial use. HDEO is not a diesel oil an many suggest it to be.

Where do you see that? TBN 12 is good?
