Hi everyone. This is my first post but I have been have been browsing/searching the forum the for a couple of weeks now. I have a 1991 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo with 50K miles that I have owned for a short while. I am going to run a 10w40 in the vehicle year round. Owners manual specs anything from 10w30 to 20w50.I am planning on running Redline 10W40. However, my brother has given me a gallon of of Amsoil AMO 10w40. The Amsoil website lists this oil as having no Friction Modifiers. I contacted Redline, and they stated their 10w40 motor does contain them. Would it be a better choice to pass on the AMO 10W40 and get the Redline or will it be okay to use it until the next oil change?

There is no problem using a synthetic oil withOUT FM's. Amsoil states this for people using wet clutch type equipment where FM's would be inappropriate. FM's in synthetic oils play a very minor role in MPG and perhaps a tiny reduction in friction losses.

AMO free? Use it as long it is unopened!

A twin turbo with only 50k miles? RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!! I`ve found that 10W40 is the "sweet spot" for oil weight in the Z32. After my current oci on Pennzoil yb,I`m either going to use Valvoline VR1 10W30,Pennzoil Ultra 10W30,or Mobil 1 10W30. 15/20W50 will take a tiny bit of horsepower on an n/a,not sure about a tt though. Have any pics you can share with us?

My fellow oil enthusiasts, which would yall go with given the choice of Pennzoil Ultra or Mobil 1?

This was my dream car back in the day. I test drove one and was in absolute AWE. The rear wheels turn a little bit when turning right? I seem to recall that. I was just starting a family back then and couldn't get the car as it wasn't really practical for that but man that car was awesome. We took it out on the highway for a test drive and the salesman told me to punch it.. whoa, hang on. lol

Oh yeah, that is probably my favorite oil from AMSOIL and one of my favorite oils out there period. I envy you for your car and having been given that oil. Use it, it's awesome. An awesome oil for an awesome car.

I second the nomination for pics!

To answer the question in the post above. Which M1 are we talking about? I'd probably use the M1 0w40 European Formula or the M1 HM 10w30 and if not those two, I'd go for the Pennzoil Ultra 5w40 European Formula, in that order. Though all three are great.

Just the plain jane Mobil 1 10W30. When my next oci comes up,I might either grab a jug of that or Pennzoil Ultra 10W30. As smooth as yb runs,it makes me really want to try Ultra.
