Bought a "used like new" Hoover MaxExtract Dual V Carpet Cleaner from Amazon Warehouse last week for $70.87 plus tax but free shipping.
At that time Amazon tried to entice applying for their credit card with $50 instant discount. Within 20-30 seconds filled out a short form online I was approved without a hitch. The final cost was $70.87 + $5.67 tax - $50 discount = $26.54.
Received the package last night by UPS. The package was on front door upside down with a 2" hole on the top left corner (bottom right corner if right side up), with heavy stain around that hole. The stain was the result of 16 fl oz bottle of cleaning solution leaked.
Contact Amazon today, complained about the damaged package and the leak, the customer service propose several remedies:
1. Return the damaged package and reorder the same carpet cleaner (new because no used item is available) and she will credit $50 for the new one.
2. Open the package to inspect, if the carpet cleaner is in perfect working condition and I like to keep it, she will ship a 32 fl oz cleaning solution free of charge, or if I prefer she will partially refund the purchase price by 30%: $21.xx plus tax to about $23.
After inspected the carpet cleaner, it needs some cleaning because of the solution did get on it, I choose the 30% refund and buy the cleaning solution later. My total cost for the "used like new" Hoover Max Extract carpet cleaner is only $3.xx. No I need to assemble it to see if it can clean a 30+ years old carpet.
The bonus is, she said that I still can return the whole thing and get refund of $53.xx if the carpet cleaner failed within 30 days after I received it.
Very hard to get better services from anywhere else. Thumb up to Amazon customer services. This is why I like shopping there.
