Amazon changes AGAIN reviews...............

It's not just Amazon who is succumbing to ehs-ittifcation.

When Bezos ran the company, it was customer-first. No longer under Jassy.

It would be pretty difficult to live a modern, practial life without being touched by these companies.

Not just your shopping portal. Your insurers. Your communications (ISP/cell phone) providers. Your media providers. Worst, your health care providers.

Priority #1 for their executives is profit, and keeping the share price up. And if they're deemed failures, they can ride their golden parachutes to a cushy retirement, or find the next sucker willing hire them.

If you don't recognize the state of late-stage capitalism we live in, you're not paying attention.

The fact that Walmart, of all stores, is now seen as a refuge from Amazon speaks volumes.

Honestly - I cringe going inside allot of big city Walmart stores - with the exception of maybe 10% in better parts of the big city …
But the 3 small town Walmart superstores that I frequent? - pretty normal people and very well run stores … Steady employees …

Yep. One big differentiator is if the bathrooms are locked or not. Locks equal bad neighborhood

I quit giving reviews on Amazon when I was trying to leave a review for a set of Imore earbuds that I was replacing. Went to leave a review and got the message “we are not accepting reviews on this item from this account”.

Last time I tried to leave a review I got a message stating that I didn't buy enough items off Amazon to leave reviews.

I can no longer click on 1-2-3-4 star reviews in Amazon.

I get this:
"Your request to see more reviews has been sent. You'll receive an email within 5 business days."

Has this happened to others?

IMO, the best place to go for reviews is WalMart, or better yet if you can find a video of someone using it.

Amazon's entire business model relies on being able to sell crappy Chinese counterfeit garbage to Americans by the metric ton. Why would you expect that they would be upfront about letting you know how crappy it is?

Also, the reviews you can read are mostly fakes. I only rely on the 1 star reviews to get honest information. Now they're hiding those.

I remember reading several years ago a forum post about "how to tell if your Hero (fountain pen) is genuine."

Hero pens are chinese copies of classic, mostly American designs.


This was a post about how to tell if you had a genuine Chinese copy of the American design, or whether it was a Chinese counterfeit of a Chinese copy of an American design.

I've started buying more from non Amazon places. The cost is sometimes a bit higher...but that usually goes hand in hand with better quality.

I think there is a big shift in manufacturing going on....away from China and back to mainland USA. It's not easy because the labor costs are many times higher in the USA but it's a pain we may have to endure to regain some independence from China.

For decades we've become used to cheap Chinese goods and the pain to go back is going to be long and painful....but far better at the end of that journey.

My favorite way to shop now is SHopify. I'd buy everything that way if I could always find what I needed.

Some sectors are doing this. For example, Intel is in the process of getting completely out of china, due to IP and national security reasons. Other sectors are doing it for other reasons. Personally, the modern slavery thing in Xinjiang back in 2020-2021 was kind of the last straw for me. I try to buy everything (that I can, at least) from first-world countries. It doesn't mean that I think there is nothing unethical happening in American or Italian or Japanese manufacturing economy, but there is certainly a lot LESS unethical behavior there. The manufacturing industry, generally, has shown that they can't really be trusted to work overseas in an ethical way.

For example, if you obey the local laws in Bangladesh, it's perfectly fine to pay women one-fourth as much as men. That's the minimum wage law there. You can also pollute as much as you want in most third-world countries. Some rivers turn blue because they make jeans there and they wash each pair 10 or more times to get the particular faded color they want for your Old Navy crap jeans. Manufacturers go there so they can get away from first-world expectations.

Amazon started going downhill when Bezos went off to be a space cowboy. Andy Jazzy has done nothing but irritate long time Amazon Prime menbers with decontenting Prime benefits.

Must have worked for Ford in his early days.
