In Pa we used fuel oil in the old farmhouse. I filled up when it was cheapest, mid summer I think. Can't quote numbers now but it was a better investment than anything else I could have done with the money. Don't know propane economics but it could be worth your while to modify your buying if possible. Hope it wasn't a low price to get you as a customer and it goes up later.

Im pretty much a rural farm house. 10 acres over a mile from a street. Natural gas is not available here and electric is much more expensive than propane Here.

You cant swap companies here. You still have to be serviced by 1 company only. We owned our last tank. It sprung a leak from the gauge and parts were not available. Plus I lost a bunch of gas. If their tank leaks they handle it.

Like many services it pays to shop around every few years. However; reliable service can be worth a great deal. Ed
Some 35 years ago the boss use to say it cost him 50 cents per gallon just to drive out the driveway. It`s more now of course and with training maintenance and wages independent companys struggle. At the same time propane at times is a niucence to refiners and is flared off to get rid of it. Not sure why the price isn`t as competetive as fuel oil.

I'm in Dutchess County NY. I have 3 100 gallon tanks for my 16k generator and I use it for cooktop and dryer. I am always [censored] when I see a difference in the price for those that use propane for heating and those in my situation. Not anger at those who get it cheaper because it's "heat" good for them and I'd do the same. What is not ok to me is (i have oil) why is the scale not the same? I'm making my garage propane heat so that will do it for the lower rate.
Just me but a commodity is just that and charging some based upon the utility they get from it is not just. I do realize we need market controls but some don't seem to fit the bill to me.

There's a company out in Arlen Texas called Strickland Propane. The Assistant Manager Hank is great to work with.

Dang, if you think shopping around makes you out of line, you must be a saint and a good neighbor to have. Lol. I would have done the same thing. You should have been grandfathered in IMO.
On a side note, $400 for 50 gallons.. ouch. Paid $1.25 a gallon here and filled our 500 gal tank.
What do you use it for anyways? Makes me wonder if you could get some oversized cylinders and fill them yourself.

Out of line? No way. Once I secured a deal I would have called them back. My comments about what to do and where to put the tank would get me a timeout on this site. Having said that had they refrained from the stupid remark about freezing my reply would have been polite. But I still would have dumped them.

I called another place Saturday. They were closed so I left a msg. He called me @7a this morning. Prices are much more reasonable than my current supplier. Best thing is that he has a $100 miminum....not a 100 gallon minimum.
