Is there any reason I can't use a Ultra XG 10575 Fram filter instead of the XG 10060 that it calls for on my 2011 Tahoe ? GM is using this larger filter on 14-17' 5.3's. I wonder if somehow this helps with some of the issues with the AFM. Anyone trying this? The two filters are the same except for the length. Also what are y'alls opinion of these filters?

A friend with a Pontiac G8 has been tracking AFM issues for some time on the forums and thinks that the issues are with the AFM parts themselves and not external influences like oil or filters. Some have AFM fail in spite of using best guess syn oil, short OCIs, tuning AFM off, etc., you may not really have much control over AFM failure. Either you got good parts in your motor or not. Using a larger filter and good oil certainly can't hurt.

I recently bought the '16 Silverado with the Ecotec3 and my plan is good synthetic on 5K OCIs with Wix or NAPA Gold filters and what will be will be. And a catch can but that's another story...

I've done a lot of research on the AFM [censored] also. It seems like the cylinders it cuts out are the ones that foul the oil rings and start the oil consumption. The catch can will keep the intake clean.

The main reason I've been thinking about using an HDEO in my Tahoe, but from what I hear, high phosphorus in HDEO is a CAT killer. The search goes on.
