Rwd chassis is interesting. I guess the last one wasn't? Looks an awful lot like the old one to me.

Yep.

Notice they took away the non-Ecoboost 3.5L v6. And I can't stand manufacturers that have their screens as if you stood up your tablet in the dash. It completely ruins the lines and flow of the interior design.

A big nope from me.

The highest priced Explorer the huge Ford dealer here has is $55k and selling for $50k which has the 3.5 eco-boost engine. I can't imagine the new gen will be that much more.

They have a leftover 2018 with an msrp of $34k and sellling for $27,500.

Less than a Ranger? Wow. That's some real role reversal for those two names.

Ranger starts at $24,300

I think it's hideous. Looks like a new Toyota Highlander with a much uglier grill. I liked the outgoing model, but this one... barf!

The 11-19 are FWD with optional AWD.

I think it looks really good, but the tablet thing kills it for me. I don't know who decided to have screens look like they were afterthoughts on interiors but they need to be kicked in the reproductive organs.

Still a car. I like it more than the last one, but it's still lame. And yeah, that tablet monolith is ridiculous.

This is an Explorer...

I just need it to do another 250K, or two.

I thought the same thing.

And significantly lower towing capacity than a Durango. The 3.6 equipped Durango's can tow 6,200lbs, 5.7 models can tow a max of 7,400, and the SRT can tow 8,700. I'm curious on to why it can only tow 5,300lbs with the same horsepower. 365HP and 385ft lbs of torque is 5.7 HEMI territory (360hp and 390ft lbs in the Durango and GC).

But loving the RWD architecture. FWD is boring!
