Acura Legend Oil Filter Suggestions?

Pictures please! I never owned one but I have a soft spot for that car. Those things were built very nicely and if you take care of them, they will last indefinitely.

Love those cars.

I'm impressed to see the electronic A/C controls and premium stereo still functioning. Those are 2 common failure points in luxury cars, and can be super expensive to repair or replace.

Would you believe the steering wheel radio controls still work? And don't feel bad about the tape player because it has a CD changer in the trunk! Oddly it is controlled through the head unit even though there is no mention of it on the radio.

Also, the a/c controls work great and better than any other car I have ever owned as far as regulating the temperature and switching between air cycles.

What a terrific car, one of the best ones to ever sit in this driveway!

These are real legends, built like a rock and good for 200-300k miles easy with some care.

Good luck!

Acura is one company which kept on losing its charm through every successive generation of their offerings :-(

Totally agreed, IMO they still are.

This is a Honda V-6.
It isn't going to be real picky about oil or oil filters.
M1 is a good choice, although I think I'd go with M1 0W-30 AFE, which is probably the better oil for the same coin.
Oil filters?
Any mid-tier filter will be fine on this engine.
A Wix or store brand labeled Wix would be fine.
P1s used to seem a great value, but I'm not so sure now with all of the evidence of media failure we're seeing now.
This is a nice gneration of the Legend.
Enjoy it!

They really hit bottom with the model year of the TL that looks the same coming as it does going.

I wanted to thank everyone for their input so far. A few things: I won't go with Fram no matter how good their current product is because they have lost all my trust, honda oem is out too mainly because I don't want to guess who is making the filter when I go to buy one each time.

That leaves my first choice so far as the Wix and I am curious about the Hasting after seeing the price when buying from Zoro.

@DrDave, I sent you an email through the old acura legend forum before I ever posted on here. It seems its a ghost town now but this place is a one stop shop for auto advice! I liked reading your advice on doing two oil changes with one filter. Would you ever be concerned about pressure building up from it being clogged or is that where the bypass valve come into play?

If you considering doing two OCIs with one filter, the put your ill feelings behind and use a Fram Ultra. If you read up on this board, the Ultra is highly recommended by many who know what's going on with oil filters.

stick to what acura or Honda (todays version)suggest ,Honda (or acura )is most of the time the measuring stick by wich others compare.i use a fram ultra !I would recommend toughguard if you must ignore advice from acure or honda

I'm sorry I just can't bring myself to do it with other options. If need be I will change the oil filter every change with a Wix or other brand.

I would love to be able to do this but what would happen if they make the same mistake with oil filters as they have in regards to transmission fluid recommendations for my car?

How about a WIX XP ... it's efficiency is only half as good as the Ultra's.

I wanted to bump this up since I have done a bit more research. I don't believe Fram makes the ultra for my car. Also, who has experience with Hastings? I might go with them if they are comparable to Wix just based on price.

Any reason to pay 5 more dollars for the wix in your opinion?

Would like to use the filter I pick for 7500 miles.

P.S. That Legend was probably my best car overall.

My first car was a 1990 Legend. Power seats, windows, sunroof and leather interior. I even installed SiriusXM in it. It was an awesome ride.

I used to run a Napa Gold on it with whatever conventional was on sale (QSGB, Chevron conv, Formula Shell, GTX). Purred like a kitten.
