Oh, I forgot about your dislike of cable. Well, without buying the DVDs then, you're out of luck.

Why was this comment something you felt the need to express? Odd to say the least.

What a stupid thing to say...

A bit harsh my good man.

So sad....Actually got to meet him when I was going though college..When not in the spotlight, he was quite warm with a wicked sense of humor...

RIP James!

He was a big guy,not much heavier than a lot of people you see on the street but yes he was "fat". My boss just died of a heart attack in March on his couch watching tv , 54, skinny, never smoked or drank. He passed a sress test 3 weeks before he died.

Sopranos was for sure one of the best shows ever. Right up there with Breaking Bad or Mad Men.

I can't say that I've ever heard of him, but it's too bad that he passed away so young. I looked up some recent pictures on the Internet and he was indeed quite obese.

I'm always surprised at the number of men that drop dead of heart attacks in their early-mid 50's. I've known 4 guys who, before the age of 55, had sudden, drop dead heart attacks. A high profile early death should be a wake up call for a lot of folks to make sure they maintain their health.

Honestly it doesn't seem to matter. I know a guy who was 32 a health nut who was playing with his kids, stopped to have a glass of iced tea and dropped dead.
Another 35 years old health nut died while riding his bicycle, they said he was dead before he hit the ground.
Jim Fixx author of the book of running and a health nut, they found him dead in the bushes after he fell out.

Death happens to the best of us at some point or another.

I disagree, but that's a subject for a different thread.

I agree. My brother's gf's dad dropped deat at age 36. The guy was in shape and very healthy. Death is part of life and can happen at anytime to anyone.

Well said.

All the people who are pointing to his weight.. There are a lot of sciences that suggest that you can be big AND healthy. And some of my friends are very vocal about this.

This is wwhy i made no mention as to "cause of death is suspected heart attack," or anything weight related.. Somebody could be 700lbs and love a loong time, and then the skinnies could drop dead from malnourishment.. YOU JUST CANNOT KNOW!!

And ok, ok.. 700lbs is an extreme example. (SOME are more than that, not a whole lot but it happens, and some maybe under that when they were at their biggest. MOST end up slimming down from that size, back into the 500s. WLS or natural. WLS is Weight Loss Surgery..) But I know a lot of people weighing from around 400lbs to 550-ish.. that live and move everyday.. It is simply a variable.

I know a tree hugging Vegan jogger that dropped dead from an enlarged heart. Exercised himself to death eating tree bark.

The big Italy boss had talk to him about the show, and how it represented the mob. Guess it didn't go well.

Shocked when I read this - I thought he was one of those larger than life characters who would go on well into old age, like Brando.

Didn't watch the Sopranos much, but what I did see of it, he was great as Tony. I think he was more mob boss than some REAL ones are!

Although he was very much typecast, he was good in almost any role he played...

RIP always JG!

Just lost my best friend at the end of March. He was 36 yrs old. He did have some chest pain on the right side over the last few weeks, shortness of breath while walking from the car to the entrance at the mall. He went to the doctor and received x rays, bp lowering medicine. The autopsy came back and said massive heart attack and 95% blockage. Medium build.

Well, I prefer to be kind in that regard. I'm skinny as a rail, but the ones I worry about most are those who are morbidly obese. Gandolfini might have been obese, but I wouldn't qualify him as morbidly obese (at least I haven't seen recent photos of him that would back up such a generalization). John Candy, on the other hand, when he passed on had a much bigger weight problem. I don't think we even need to mention Orson Welles or Marlon Brando.

Agreed.
