That's a real shame. Talented actor. Very interesting to watch. I was hoping that they were going to make a 'Soprano' film for the big screen. Not now I would suppose. I'll miss his acting.

Just heard on the tube, very sad and shocking. Along with millions of others, I really enjoyed the Sopranos. Gandolfini was great as Tony.

RIP JG.

He was heavyset, but I wouldn't go much beyond that. How can you live in NJ without having seen the Sopranos?

It was a great show. And he's definitely been taken from us much too soon.

"The Sopranos" sucked. At least most of it did.

I didn't like the show.

That said, I drive past one of its set locations on Kennedy Blvd in Jersey City often.

I hope he is happy in the afterlife. He was more than just a character he played.

R.I.P., James Gandolfini.

A lot of NJ folk didn't much care for the representation of their neighborhoods.

It was a show, it had its moment, it was drug out for some years, and thank GOD there is never a movie.

Nor did some Italian Americans, but in the end, it was a fictional show. I did like the show, though, and his performance in it.

That show represented most of North Eastern NJ. Central and Southern is different.

I watched Good Fellas the other night. Didn't watch the Sapranos.

Obese: Well above ones normal weight. A person has traditionally been considered to be obese if they are more than 20 percent over their ideal weight. That ideal weight must take into account the person's height, age, sex, and build: He was WELL over 20%

And he was a fantastic actor, RIP.

So true. Grew up in Bloomfield. Sme truth and some fiction in the show. But it was an awesome show.

What a stupid thing to say...

Death of natural causality in middle age is almost always associated with these: heart risk factors (cholesterol, tri-glycerides, pressure, valves, arterial plaque/occlusion), untimely diagnosis of cancers, aneurisms, undiagnosed/untreated conditions, family history (genetics), exposure to exogenous toxins including vapors, liquids, bacterial, chemical, nuclear, blah blah blah. Or too much methamphetamine, cocaine powdered or free-based crack, heroin street opiates, acetaminophen, pasta alfredo, zabaglione, and all sorts of other good time charlies. Gandolfini was a large man and appeared to have large appetites of all sorts. Heck, he ate enough junk at the Bing to kill him.

Jams Gandolfini was a large man who lived life large. I have to believe that many of his 51 years were pretty good ones. Godspeed, Mr. G.

Heavy drinking of course is at least if not more destructive than most party drugs.

Well, I prefer to be kind in that regard. I'm skinny as a rail, but the ones I worry about most are those who are morbidly obese. Gandolfini might have been obese, but I wouldn't qualify him as morbidly obese (at least I haven't seen recent photos of him that would back up such a generalization). John Candy, on the other hand, when he passed on had a much bigger weight problem. I don't think we even need to mention Orson Welles or Marlon Brando.

When you boycott cable and not watch much TV, I guess...

I heard that some scenes were filmed in a pizzeria I used to have lunch at sometimes in HS.
