It was the first result on Google searching for "a3/b4 vs a5/b5".

a1/b1 is obsolete
a3/b3 and a3/b4 are higher hths iirc

I like higher hths oils but currently using a5/b5 ... If your engine is under high load and/or racing or high rpm or Italian driving ... I would use higher hths

A3/B4 is higher HTHS viscosity (min 3,5), and A5/B5 is lower HTHS viscosity (min 2,9), so it has fuel economy properties.

Same as C class. C1 and 2 are low HTHS (2,9) - compared to A5, and C3 and C4 are higher HTHS 3,5. But C has lower sulphated ash comparing to A/B to preserve DPF or TWC catalyst.

Well the what is the ACEA attempting to accomplish? The OEM'S recommending this standard have a higher percentage of engine failures versus their Japanese and American counterparts. Is this enough information to start a BITOG conspiracy?
