This was in my 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged for 514 days and 6,899 miles. I usually wait until the oil life monitor says "change engine oil," but this is the first time it exceeded a year before having the message come on.

I drive probably 90% highway at 55 MPH - pretty much ideal conditions for engine oil life. Either way, I don't like waiting more than a year between changes.

This filter was built pretty good - it was kind of hard to cut in half with the hack saw. It's definitely built better than those cheap budget cartridge filters that you sometimes get at the chain oil change places.

I thought it looked pretty good considering the time and mileage.

There's always a bit of squishing after an OCI, but it's been that way since the car was new. I used to put the filter in the cap first, then tighten down. Last time I put the filter in first, then put the cap on. Seems to minimize the compressing of the filter that way.

Just too bad GM doesn't include an O-ring with the filter! (although the PF458G includes the cap and O-ring). Hengst makes good cartridges

Purflux used to be the OE supplier for the Ecotec, and thankfully Purflux still makes the filters. Part number L264A. It has those chevron pleats

This one looks to be the original Hengst US made ACDelco cartridge. There's another ACDelco cartridge with the same part number, that has wrap over media endcaps, different color media and no Hengst ID on the endcaps. Been discussed before, supposedly also Hengst made. I'm skeptical.

As ecotec cartridge anecdotes go, pleating not bad. Generally speaking the Hengst ACDelco cartridge show good post use results.

I had a leak when I changed the oil on this car one time. I ended up putting red RTV over the old o-ring as a temporary fix.

That was sometime in 2009. I still have yet to have a leak!

Interesting. I bought this one from Advance Auto according to my records.

When ordering this filter, order the PF457GO instead of the PF457G. The GO comes with the o-ring.
