If nothing is eventful, I usually do not make a cut & post but, someone wanted to see some recent eCore cut and posts.

Combo valve on the base plate.

Combo valve end of the filter element.

Leaf spring.

Filter element view #1.

Filter element view #2.

Filter element view #3. The PF1250 appeared to have a thicker media than the PH820. There were 53 pleats in this filter vs the 56 in the PH820.

More carbon was observed on this oil change. 1) longer OCI and 2) closer to the beginning of a cleanup phase. Some of the carbon fell out while I was taking pictures and counting pleats.

More carbon.

More carbon.

Old cage used on the PH820 vs the new cage used on the PF1250 in this post.

End view of the new cage.

These were just the eCore changes. There were other non-eCore filters used. Between 2016 and 2017.

Just noticed the 2/3-1 installation instructions as opposed to say Fram's 3/4-1. 3/4 of a turn does seem a bit excessive at times. Also somewhat surprised there's no e at the end of the part number. I would have bought that thinking I wasn't getting an ecore. (The PF52 vs. the PF52e for example.)

Looks very good though. Construction wise, the new cage with more support reminds me of a quality Mann or Mahle cartridge filter.

Good observation! First time I have seen it.

Filter looks in good shape. Looks like the ecores I have cut open. Champ does use a good amount of pleats, but on the other hand those pleats are not deep because of the large cage design, so the overall media count looks to be more than it really is. Anyway, I have used ecores before, and have no problems using one again.

Thanks for the pictures!

AC Delco is inconsistent with part numbers. It may be that is the way things evolved. Therefore the buyer had to be alert. 9 Times out of ten, I have to get a filter wrench to remove a filter. I think the ‘turning spec’ is there to be sure the gasket does not blow out with normal oil pressures plus a margin.
