Oil change on the 2022 Yukon XL 5.3L today. 33k miles, last changed at 27k w/27% left on the OLM.
Obviously, I'm keeping a close eye on things with the known lifter failure issues on the AFM/DOD 5.3s.
Pleats looked quite clean with a few tiny sparkles. Posted both sides of the filter, I didn't take note of which side was the filtering side before cutting and squeezing oil out. I would have thought it was the dark side that did the filtering, but the few sparkles were observed on the lighter side.
There was a gummy deposit of some kind on the base plate of the filter. I was able to scrape it off with a fingernail - I'm curious as to BITOG opinions of what that could be. Big picture it was before the filter though, so I'm not too worried.
Also some fine metallic residue on the bottom of the filter. Unfortunately I did not get a picture before I wiped it out, but you can see a little bit of what remained in the photo.
Will be cutting the next filter for analysis, but so far I'm satisfied with the results of the teardown.
