Oil change on the 2022 Yukon XL 5.3L today. 33k miles, last changed at 27k w/27% left on the OLM.

Obviously, I'm keeping a close eye on things with the known lifter failure issues on the AFM/DOD 5.3s.

Pleats looked quite clean with a few tiny sparkles. Posted both sides of the filter, I didn't take note of which side was the filtering side before cutting and squeezing oil out. I would have thought it was the dark side that did the filtering, but the few sparkles were observed on the lighter side.

There was a gummy deposit of some kind on the base plate of the filter. I was able to scrape it off with a fingernail - I'm curious as to BITOG opinions of what that could be. Big picture it was before the filter though, so I'm not too worried.

Also some fine metallic residue on the bottom of the filter. Unfortunately I did not get a picture before I wiped it out, but you can see a little bit of what remained in the photo.

Will be cutting the next filter for analysis, but so far I'm satisfied with the results of the teardown.

Nice work. What went in and on?

Thank You sir

Oops forgot that part. Napa Gold 100255 filter went on, along with Kirkland 0w20.

Didn't specify at the Napa counter, so initially I got the ProFormance filter. Returned it for the Gold, due to a stated 5,000 max service interval on the box. I go by the OLM and don't want to get caught above 5k miles and have warranty issues. That's a bit in the weeds, but I figured I'd be better off with the Gold.

Also cahnged the air filter, here's 33k miles on the OEM air filter. Not bad.
