Re: Vauxhall Combo (Fiat based) 1.3cdti diesel engine

According to the specs of Mobil 1 fully synthetic(5L) 5w30 ESP oil, it meets specification
ACEA C2/C3, ACEA A3/B3, ACEA A3/B4; API CF
ACEA A5/B5; API SL/SM
VW 504 00/507 00; MB-Approval 229.31/229.51; BMW Longlife 04; Peugeot Citroën Automobiles E/D

BUT According to the manual, Using category ACEA A1/B1 and
A5/B5 engine oil is expressly forbidden because it can cause long term damage to the engine under certain operating conditions.

I don't see how it can meet both A3/B3 and A5/B5 at the same time since these two grades have different shear strengths?

HTHS of the Mobil is 3.58, so I presume it will be suitable. I guess Vauxhall advise against the A5/B5 oils because of the lower HTHS rating.

Sorry

HT/HS?

It's strange that some Opel Engines are used in America but the Oil spec is A1.

In Europe, A1/A5 cause long term damage. In America, its ok.
lol
