They are watching you.

For the non-tinfoil-hat response, see the earlier post about cell companies having a less than precision ability to determine the radius from which the call was placed.

Anytime someone uses the phrase "tin foil hat," it tells me that person had nothing more useful to say.

Holding the 9 button on your phone long enough, and it will call the emergency number of the area (911 in US, 999 in Britain, 119 in China, etc).

Smart phone has GPS to tell where it is at, but dumb phone still use the cell tower signals to triangulate the location. In a few years we'll have mandate of GPS in even dumb phone for better emergency location precision (it is yet another darn evil government regulation trying to save your life).

I remember a few years ago some kids with internet phones crank call 911 to get SWAT team bust on others' houses as jokes. I haven't followed up but hope this is no longer happening as it will be very sad if someone got shot accidentally for this.

You should have talked them into buying some Amsoil, while they were there.

I know the Federal Gov't/Military can get more precise resolution than local Police.
Also, the local Police are used to people lying to them, and had to pursue the issue more than you liked.

i had the same thing happen to me. the officer wanted to check my apt that i wasnt being held against my will. not haveing anything to hide, i let him check my house. i had been on the phone but dont how they thought i was in trouble.

How certain are you that your wife doesn't secretly have an entire Korean family chained up in the tool shed out back? If she did, don't you think she would have the good sense to say "everything's okay" when one of them grabbed her phone and called the cops?

That may read like a bad joke, but it's worth asking her about. My ex had a bad habit of grabbing people out of shopping mall parking lots, stuffing them in the trunk of her car, and driving away with them. I would never have known, but that a cop saw her do it once and she had to tell me so I would know how to play along in case the cops questioned me. Sometimes women don't see the need to talk about all their little habits, especially the ones they think aren't that important, you know?

The cop let her get away with it, therefore you had to be told to pretend to not know what you really didn't know?

I think I understand....

Did you throw back a few tall, cool ones tonight?

Not until after writing that. We did end up getting a few visits though. There was nothing nefarious going on. It turns out the whole thing was some sort of strange game.
