I was up last night trying to find one, but have had no luck.
What is a good (cheap) oversize filter with the M20x1.5 thread for my 89 Cherokee 4.0?
The numbers for stock are:
Napa 1626
Fram PH3985
Purolator L14619
Wix 51626
Looking to not go over $5 if I can help it, Im poor. Lol

Thanks,
Dylan

If your Cherokee is a 2WD....then just get the one recommended for the 4WD with the same size motor. Easy!

Your best bet may be to actually switch out the oil filter boss for the 91+ Cherokee oil filter boss. It is a straight bolt in, and will let you run the FL1A style filter on your Jeep. If you haven't replaced the O-rings in the filter adapter, this would be good time to do it. Jeep dealership or junkyard would both work to source the part - don't have the number handy.

I just did the adapter O-rings on my '88 Cherokee (replacing the motor mounts). Couldn't believe they weren't leaking with how rock hard they were.

I was hoping to not have to do that... I dont have any junkyards, I would have to get it off the internet/from the dealer.
I guess Ill just stick with a standard size filter.

The part number you need from your friendly dealership parts department is 53007563. Runs about 5-6 bucks at last check. Replaces the Metric threads with Standard threads to use the oversized FL1A filters. Not that expensive!
