88-98 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra C/K's

A suspension lift and big tires looks cool. As seen at Canadian Tire.

Here are my two. Both are 1998 models. The green extended cab I bought new and it has 145,000 miles on it. Original drivetrain. I've had the intake gaskets replaced a couple of times but that's it. 5.7L/4L60E/3.73.

I bought the black one in 2007 with 94,000 miles on it. It's the K3500 version with the 7.4L/4L80E/4.10. It now has 124,000 miles on it. All original drivetrain as far as I know. It's not had any engine or transmission work done on it since I've owned it except fluid changes.

Beautiful brother! I'm sure you get many compliments on those. Wow. Neither are close to being broke in.

Ever wanna sell the 98 ext cab, please let me know lol. But I'm sure there is a line of us...

Thanks. They are one of my favorite body styles. I've had compliments on both and have had people want to buy both, but I have had way more people want to buy the black truck over the green one.
I'm in my late 50's now so hopefully they will both still last a long time. I don't care for any of the new trucks these days.

Good looking truck. Being a 90’s kid, they were a favorite of mine growing up. The later GMT400’s seem like a good mix between old and new. I’d love me a late 90’s Tahoe daily driver.

We have a ‘92 C1500 with the 4.3 and 5 speed that belonged to my wife’s grandfather who passed away last May. I casually mentioned to my MIL that I’d be interested in buying it. Grandma was just going to sell it to one of those “We buy junk cars” outfits so she just gave it to us.

Took the cap off and gave her some K02’s and Bilstein 4600’s. We put about 250 miles on it then she started running very rough with a top speed of 45 mph. I have plug/ wires and ignition parts for it, but I’m thinking it’s a springtime fixing issue. Lol

Here’s when we brought it home. She was filthy. *The truck. Not the dog. 🤡

Nice! Man. Keep that thing. Have you seen what some 3/4 suburbans of that era are going for now? Lol. It's crazy. If only it had the L29 454...

IIRC I don’t think there is any difference in towing capacity between the 350 and 454. The 454 has more low end torque and will get you up to speed faster, but the 350 does surprisingly well. My local dealership told me the 2wd 3/4 ton 350 combo is pretty uncommon.

The only problem my grandparents had with the drivetrain was with the rear axle. It needed axle seals and N axle shaft early in its life, a second set of axle seals years later, and a pinion seal a few years ago.

I live 2 hours from Oshawa. My 05 Silverado was built there, so was my 83 Caprice I had up until recently. And the 78 K10 I still have that my dad bought when I was 6.....

I guess I'd same I'm partial to vehicles built in Oshawa. I remember years ago an ex girlfriend and I went to pick up a kitten she wanted that someone was selling...we pulled up in her Lumina (built in Oshawa). The lady immediately commented that we were driving a Chevy... pointed to her husband putting brakes on an Impala...he just retired from the Oshawa plant building those. We were immediately in the good books just for driving a Chevy.
I was also helping with the Lumina's and Regal's. Dad did very well working there starting in '63 I think, when you could raise a family of four on one income.

Glad you could save it from the Junkyard Bandits. They just would've taken it, washed it and sold it for twice the value they paid for it, not to mention its still in the family. That truck will last you a lifetime if you maintain it. Those ol 4.3s just keep chugging along just like its bigger brothers. Great Engines, Great truck. They just don't make them like that anymore. I'm sure it is a simple fix and sounds like you're on the right track!

Good looking Shep btw :)

Love my 93 C1500 5.7l, I bought it in 20 w 126k on it, she now has 162k. Other than maintenance items and a Truetrac locker she has been an awesome old truck. Towed our 6k # camper out to South Dakota and back one year and small local trips after that. We bought an Expedition for room for the dogs after the SD trip. Ran out of time out West as the dog sitter had to leave. She is my wife's daily to work and she loves her. Undercoated w Woolwax the 1st year and she has no rot on her still.
Awesome trucks.

I actually got to go on a grade 7 field trip to the Oshawa plant and Olds building....I remember how excited my teacher was to tell me where we were going. We saw luminas, Monte Carlos and regals being built. It was the year they were the Olympics sponsor, all the cars had the Olympics sticker.
That teacher later bought a Lumina ltz.

Also had a 1990 or 91' 5 speed that had the "Moonie Gauges". Remember those?
Very much so! Had a buddy that had them, it was a 1989 reg cab swb 2wd 5.7 with 2.73 or 2.93 gears (cant remember exactly now) back in high school...sucker could've prolly ran 150 mph at 1500 rpms lol. Could you imagine any kindve towing with that thing? Lol.
