Remember seeing that video last year. Goes to show just how far you can go with routine maintenance. Considering the engine and transmission were rebuilt, that's 650,000 miles on the original drivetrain!

Thats how I want to feel about a car. My 01 Impala was close, but the gremlins kept it away from being "that" car. 7-8 years and 80k with her, no where near 1.3 million miles but I had many a good times.

LOL at his hood prop rod.

After that million mile late 60's volvo I figured the modern era with EFI etc would offer up a bunch of as-reliable vehicles.

I hear ya! True car lovers lust for that 'it'll last forever' machine. I love the man in this video. He makes you want to go out and buy one just like it. I do believe, when maintained properly, you can get amazing longevity out of some of today's vehicles.

I bet he takes it really easy on his car too. That goes a very long way in making it run a while.

Full frame RWD cars with small displacement V8 engines and 4 speed transmissions are an inherently reliable design. Especially early 80's cars, the low HP output of the engine is easy on drivetrain components.

I actually hate watching that video cause it reminds me of my awesome 88 Town Car I put 300K miles on with no major issues...I reminds me I should have just kept it...I actually cried when the new owner drove away in it.

That 5.0 engine in those Town Cars were awesome...BTW I never used synthetic oil in it...Just plain old dino every 3 to 5K miles.

I had no idea this vintage was put together so well. Beautiful looking car too. I wish to God Ford would redesign the Town Car. Give it that classic look, better road handling and a lot of modern horsepower. A convertible would do them more good than they know...but don't get me started!
