You can have my Bill Murray when you pry it from the rabid ravenous jaws of my all-too-live groundhog.

What is this crud about only testing to 150,000? LOL

Anyone who has seen the fleets of mfg. cars running the desert /mountain/freeway trials and talked to the drivers know what ** that is. Many of these cars are driven almost 24/7/365. The ones I have seen had well over 200,000 miles and still going.

427Z06, I've only put 302 miles on the Mobil 0W-20 in my 04 DTR Marauader. The OD now reads 1864. I've been driving the Q45 with the Amsoil 5w30 in it. I tring to pick one of three oils for spring 1)Redline 2)Neo, since a member here suggest that in his opinion these are the best and the last (flame suit ON) Synlube.

Btw, forgot to mention my guy across the street stopped me Friday and he just got his 01-02 Harley Davidson F-150 back. Said he was at a stop light and it "grenaded" on him. It has 51600 miles on it. He thought someone was shooting at him, the dealer said a sparkplug backed out of one of the cylinders. He had the extended warranty so they replace the engine.

So yes I'm concerned.

Some Ford truck engines did have spark plugs that would just blow out. Not related to 5W-20 oil.

"The Acura TSX I was recently under the hood of said 5w30 on the cap. Higher performing engine, thicker oil eh? hmm."
The Honda S-2000 I had a chance to drive (BTW, what an incredible car!) had 10w30 on the oil cap. Kinda thick for a 4 cylinder VTEC Honda, wouldn't you say?

Everyone should get up in the morning and smell the fresh air, hug your kids and tell them you love them, and not worry about what weight of oil someone else is running in their car.

I run what I want to because it makes me happy, you should run what you want to because it makes you happy. Everyone just be happy.

Yes run what you want to run and dont worry about it so much.

Theres probably nothing wrong with 5w-20 but if your that paranoid about it run 5w30 or whatever makes you sleep better.

TallPaul "That's smart. Experiment on someone else's car."

Actually, if my car was backspeced(spelling...)I would do it on mine, however I don't have a car at all, so this isn't possible. No Fear here.

Btw, can someone tell me where the "quote" image/icon went? I can't quote anyone, and it looks like alot of people don't seem to know how to anymore either. Thanks.

Unless you have a truck, you are more of an oil head than the rest of us. Most of us would probably not have much interest in oil were it not for our personal vehicles.

The major reason to use heavier oil in a car overseas (Europe) is the Autobahn. There is a BIG diff in oil shearing and engine wear when a car is driven 60-85 MPH or 90-120+ MPH. The load on the engine is much greater at Autobahn speeds, and so is the heat. If you don't load the engine to the max, lighter weight oil is better.

This is also why trucks recommend heavier weight oil like 15w40. However, if you don't haul or tow heavy weights, then you can use lighter weight oil.

The quote feature was disabled by the Admins a few months ago.

mettech: Your argument is clearly wrong. Maybe 5% of all European cars are ever driven on Autobahn. The rest of Europa has maximum speed limits of 80 mph or less.
