Went to Walmart with a friend as he was picking up oil for his first oil change in a 2014 mustang 3.7L. He was looking for the cheapest Full Synthetic 5w20 and he spotted the magnatec. I looked at the bottle and the 5w20 was full synthetic and the rest of the grades were blends. Cost was $20.83 for a 5qt jug 5w20 FS magnatec. Individual QT's were $4.37. I was surprised the 5w20 was a full synthetic oil.

I am surprised that your friend didn't pick up a 5 qt jug of Super Tech 5W20 for $17.**...unless it was out of stock!

^^^ This at least, is what the Super Tech 5W20 cost at our W*M's.

Although, that is a good price on any synthetic oil especially being Castrol!

Yep the 5w20 and 0w20 Magnatech are full syn, the 5w30 and up is a blend. The 10w40 might not even be a blend but I doubt it will ever actually been seen in the wild anyway.

Glad to hear they had quarts. I was in Wally's today looking for a single quart of Magnatech 5w30 to round out the jugs I already bought, but they had none in any grade.

I'd definitely give it a try if I could find it.

I told him to get supertech when he asked me what was the cheapest syn. He noticed the magnatec and said what about this one? I said I think that's a blend and he pointed out it was a full syn. So I told him that seemed like a decent price. He isn't a car guy, but I think he liked the jug with the double handle setup lol.

He did the right thing! And Quaker State Ultimate Durability is also a great value at ~ $22/jug. So, there are many good values on Syn Oils at W*M. PP is < $25/jug. Many oils to choose from for those who are more brand specific.

Yes sir on that. Quaker State Ultimate Durability is really a great price at $21. And it is a good product. Its really a strong sleeper oil.

I have use the Quaker State Ultimate Durability in the Lexus in my signature for 8 months/8K miles. Nice indeed!

0w20 Quaker State Ultimate Durability is loaded with moly too.

Synpower is also $22 a jug at walmart right now. That would have been my personal choice. The reality is i think we could all pick oil based on the jugs we thought looked "cool" and our engines would still last forever.

Im halfway excited to change his oil for him and see how this Magnatec looks/smells. And the fact he told me he would get me dinner at texas roadhouse one weekend for changing his oil

Sounds like a win to me. Please do follow his experience with the magnatec and update as needed to let us (or at least myself) know how it does. I'm very curious about it.
