Well, its just about my 6 month maintenance time, and I was wondering which grade oil would be best. I will probably delay a tad and change my oil a few months after the 6 months since I haven't hit 5k miles yet. During the winter, which would give the best start up protection for weather anywhere between -5 to 30 degrees? My daily drive is 5 miles to school and back, usually 6 days a week, so i dont quite rack up many miles

Can't blindly recommend w/out knowing the vehicle and its condition. Throwing 0w20 in a vehicle thats been running HM oil could be a bad experience. What vehicle, the one in your sig?

I have 5w30, maxlife full syn, dont remember how many miles on oil, but changed last january
Edit: I've also been told that it is unnecessary running a HM oil with a vehicle if it is in great shape. My engine runs like new, idles fine, and never seen a drop of oil consumed

Your Yaris is the same engine as my xB, which sheared 0W HARD in 7K (0W30 AFE)-think I would stick with the 5W30 myself (although your Yaris is new enough to allow the 20 weight).

Here is my experience switching off - then having to go back to HM oil. Had problems prior, (valve seals, a few weeping gaskets) but they were much worse after switching back to regular synthetic. IMO Depending how long you were running HM oil, maybe you will have problems when the seals unswell, maybe you will be fine. You will definitely notice more valve noise going to M1 0w20 from what you have now. But the new Toyotas use 0w20 made by XOM, so Mobil is the right oil. Won't hurt to try, just be vigilant for oil consumption and leaks. Especially the second OC, when the HM oil has lost its effect.

Go with the vehicle's viscosity chart in he owners manual. Synthetic would be even better. Amsoil has the recommended fluids on their website.
