They mandated tire pressure sensors, and now California can fine you for low tire pressure!
They put oil life monitors in cars, and guess what's next?
Some sort of regulation on changes.

I have 2 vehicles that only see 7k a year, however on those 2 vehicles EVERY time they're started, they're ran for a minimum of 150 miles at a time.

I change the oil twice a year in the gas engine, and once a year in the diesel.

that should work great...my bils used car he bought w/ 94,000 miles in october 2010 is up to 28k and 9 months on bulk oil and engine runs. He just relys on me to add oil or not, makes no difference to him.

I'm thinking if the oil is kept clean during the 5k/1year OCI, it should be alright. The main thing
to watch out for is dirt coming in with the air as it enters the engine; that's how oil gets dirty.
You gotta check your air cleaner and snorkel for leaks and make sure no dirt bypasses the air filter.

If the oil wasn't so expensive as it's been lately, I'd say go ahead and change it every 5k/6months; whichever came first.
