Could be a bad dashboard oil light.

I cant believe you guys who are saying to sell the car. How unethical is that. Sticking someone else with a potential piece of s--- because that guy was an idiot. Geeezzzz!!!

Maybe the saleperson was refering to the trans fluid and NOT the oil and the buyer got confused.

now with the engine, frequent oci is a must. heck, just run the engine with new dino for 30 minutes, then change the oil and filter. repeat and watch the sludge keep coming out. use a 20wt too

I have a friend who has a '99 Ford Escort who never change the oil.

We had a car in the dealership today that went 14K miles and had not been changed at all. The drain plug was untouched and the original filter (unavailable in this country) was still there. It was however about 2 quarts overfilled so someone has been adding oil. Well it had so much it pumped a bunch into the intake and it smoked something FIERCE!!! Like a really good Seafoam that did not quite.
Well no visible sludge in the valvetrain area but the tip of the visible cam lobes were scored. Niece gouges in them. That one will not last.

Makes me think of when I read stuff on here like "Oh, just use that noadditive-zerodetergent-fueldiluteslikeasonofagun-noname oil if you're getting rid of the car in a year or two."
