Going through auction tomorrow. I'd give $600 or $700 just to experience a half million mile ride, but seller wants nearly $3K.

tranny's are 150-200k mi. weak, that bumper dent is a easy fix (3hrs.), 4.7 engine has a timing belt.

Carfax?? lol
Pretty sure people who buy 500,000mi vehicles aren’t interested in the carfax lol. Repairs are bound to have been made in those miles. But it would be pretty cool to see “some” of this vehicle’s history.

ive known a couple of these, they seem to just shrug off the miles. The 4.7L is a remarkably solid engine. Agree with the above, the 4spd trans *can* have issues with OD becoming shrapnel, but to what extend IDK. I’m sure they ride better than my 06 tundra did, but if they are related, they handle more like a truck and less like a family-oriented full-size suv.

I'd look at a CarFax for $50 on a $3k purchase, may surprise.

Not many of them had the 4-speed, did they? Just the first year, maybe?

I think most had the 5-speed Aisin A750E/F that was shared amongst The Sequoia, GX, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Tundra, and others. Which is a tried, tested, and proven unit.

4 speed, 2001 through 2004. Transmission had dipstick and used T-IV.

2005-2007 had the 5 speed. No dipstick and WS fluid.

2005 also coincided with the addition of variable valve timing and HP increase for the 4.7 V8.

one thing these V8 Toyotas are not good on gas, not even on the radar screen..my recent 3,000 mile trip was 15.3 mpg on the 4.7 albeit 80-90 mph...2005+ 91 gas.

When Toyota designed the 4.7L 2UZ-FE they took the unusual (backwards) step of swapping the 1UZ's aluminum block for one made of iron. Since these where intend to be truck engines the extra weight was not a huge deal, and the trade off was lower costs and increased durability of an iron block. Safe to say they got the durability part tight.
