m1 0w40 is cheaper and even better for extended ocis
The AMSOIL EAO11-EA is also a MANN-HUMMEL product, probably a Wix 57899XP clone (same can, different sticker). And that's how you end up paying $20 for a $6 Wix filter. I'm not implying that the Wix 57899XP is a bad filter, just saying.
I have no way of knowing what AMSOIL is using, however, I'm sure they have to strike a positive balance between maintaining their good reputation and turning a profit.I thought that was odd, but it was the media they were after at the time, so who made the can went to who offered the best price for preparing that combo.

I'd prefer spun microglass, but I'll settle for synthetic media. In some cases I have to settle for cellulose when only OEM filters are available, without an aftermarket option.
Years back I posted some material from both Fleetguard and Donaldson on their top tier media offerings. It was interesting reading the different "takes" from these OEM's. Donaldson was of course the pioneer in Microglass media, but Fleetguard's (Cummins) most recent product they claim is even better. Of course you can't get a Stratopore for many applications, so gaining access to it for passenger car usage is difficult. I'm lucky that they do make the Ford FL-1A size, so I'm able to run one of their cans on our boat.
As far as AMSOIL goes, I'll see if @Pablo knows if they are still using the Donaldson media in a can packaged by somebody else, he's likely able to find out. It was an interesting relationship, but made sense in the context of what they were doing, as they were also using the Donaldson air filter media in their air filters, which, arguably, was also the best on the market.
I don't want to derail this thread or take away anything from the OP. I think that his oil and filter choice were excellent, and the only way he could improve upon that is by moving up to Mobil 1 FS 0W-40. I believe that the FS product line belongs with the EP line, however, I believe that Mobil wants to differentiate the products and avoid confusion. However, the FS oils are very very good products. The 0W-40 is the factory fill for the Nissan GT-R, and the 5W-50 is the factory fill for the Lexus LF-A. Not to mention that the 0W-40 is also used in racing. IMHO any gasoline vehicle that specifies fuel economy oils anywhere from 0W-20 up to 5W-30 can easily use Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 and enjoy better reliability and protection.
The Mobil 1 oil filters are now manufactured by Purolator and they are the exact same filters as those in their One line. I thought before that they were part of the BOSS line, however, someone corrected me and then I saw a few videos of M1 filters being disected. They are indeed synthetic blend media, part of the Purolator One line. I guess he could improve on that by going with a Purolator BOSS filter, or a FRAM FS2, which has way better efficiency.
As to AMSOIL filters, I found this video:

Turbo chargers tend to shred 0w-X oils to pieces. They will shear them down. Some oils like PP and PUP 5W-30 will also shear like crazy to a 5W-20 really fast, especially in a turbo charged engine. The 2.7L Eco Boost is a very hot running engine, the 3.5L runs even hotter. If I owned an Eco Boost, I would run Mobil 1 FS 5W-40 year-round. I think the only reason Mobil came out with it was to give us a 40 weight oil that's more shear resistant. Don't get me wrong, the 0W-40 is an awesome oil, but in an Ecoboost, the 5W-40 makes more sense. It has less VI and a slightly thicker base oil blend than the 0W-40.Think it would hurt to try it in my 2.7 ecoboost which calls for 5w30? They are known to dilute between shearing and fuel
Better grab the Ram at 10,000 next time. The oil is thickening.m1 0w40 is cheaper and even better for extended ocis
