This is my father in laws truck. He's not the oil changing type and believes oil is oil 🤣. Before I started changing his oil he told me he had gotten low and put half a qt of bar and chain oil in it...... this uoa is my second change on it and I still had to steal the truck to change it at 15k. He was going to keep going more on it. Although the report shows it had a little left to go 🤷‍♂️. FYI he's a carpenter and I've never seen this truck without either a 14 ft cargo trailer or a 16 foot trailer with 4 job boxes, latters, air compressor and normally a bed full of stuff to boot. I'm actually impressed with this UOA

That's a good report considering mileage and use.

Your father in law is the guy that will never have a Hemi tick or camshaft issue. The poor dude changing at 5K miles religiously will.
That's just how it goes...
You know I thought he did get the tick, but as I changed the oil this time I noticed it went away with heat, got to looking and he has a broken exhaust stud and that's it 🤣. On the other hand I just tore down his wife's jeeps top end and replace a rocker for the 3.6 pentastar tick about a month ago, and she's religious about oil.

I you could upload a PDF or a higher resolution picture it would be great. The report looks good.

Or the guy spending big bucks on Red Line...

Pssst, don't tell that to the Hemi tick crowd, they might get their pitchforks and torches out.

You can "upgrade" him to Mobil 1 FS 0W-40. It's like High Mileage Deluxe engine oil for that truck :ROFLMAO:. Every time I think of that oil in an engine I think of Mr. Proper 😂. It have very good cleaning abilities and that one really keeps engines like new.

Think the 0w40 would mess with the VVT in this truck? I notice that the oil actually thickened from the 5w20 to a light 5w30

The M1 EP 5W-20 spec is 9 cSt at operating temp. I would put that measurement within Black Stone's margin of error. M1 contains esters, and given the mileage, and that Hemis don't dilute fuel, a .36 increase is nothing. It's amazing how ILSAC made everyone run what's essentially a 20 weight oil. Even the 5W-30 oils are basically 5W-20. This is reference to your light 30 weight comment.

No, the Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 will not mess with the VVT in the Hemi. If the M1 EP 5W-20 looked this good in that Hemi after 15K miles, imagine how well a track oil loaded with additives and esters that can be had for a bargain price at Walmart will do in that engine, not to mention that it will make it a tad quieter.

What filter are you using?

This was with a mobil filter as well. And I'll scoop up some of the 0w40 next round and see how she likes it.

You can use the bigger Mobil 1 210A filter on that Hemi. The OEM for Mobil 1 filters are made by MANN-HUMMEL and the filters that they rebrand as Mobil 1 are the Purolator BOSS, which are very good filters. Alternatively you can use the excellent Wix 57899XP, or get the Red Line crowd favorite Royal Purple 20-820, which by the way, is the same filter as the Wix 57899XP, as Wix is the OEM for Royal Purple, and Wix is also owned by MANN-HUMMEL. The funniest thing is that the same crowd loves to bash Wix filters, when that's why they run themselves under the Royal Purple brand, lol. As to Red Line, it's very good oil. Their performance oils are not API certified, however, the formulation somewhat resembles that of Mobil 1 FS as it has more of everything, kind of old school. Still, Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 should be plenty good. The one upgrade I would do is swap the thermostat with a Stant 190F instead of the 202F factory t-stat.

Whats the best filter in your opinion?
Purolator BOSS is an evolution of the Wix XP filters. RP filters are rebranded Wix XP and Mobil 1 are Purolator BOSS. If you're in a hurry and can't find your filter, go to Walmart and buy the Mobil 1 210A with confidence, it's a good filter. I find it amusing that Mobil 1 kept he marketing materials from when Champion Labs was supplying them with "synthetic-blend" media filters. Now they're full-synthetic filters made from polyethylene. I also like some of FRAM's offerings, though they cut some weird corners with some of their spin-on filters, like those thin casings. They also re-sell MANN-HUMMEL and MAHLE filters since they don't really make canister filters, FRAM that is.

Change your oil on time, use good oil, and maybe some magnets here and there. Don't expect your oil filter to do miracles for you, it won't.

Not expecting it to just curious on your thoughts. I used a boss filter last change. Cant remember the part number but it was the oem size boss filter

I would use any of top-tier filters made by MANN-HUMMEL, FRAM, or Donaldson, without hesitation. I don't have a favorite. I have a minor gripe with FRAM's canister wall thickness, however, the filtration is excellent. It's probably the last true spun micro-glass filter on the market. I wonder when they'll switch to something less expensive.
