Assand is correct All Maximas came with timing chains many multi-row Hyvo type linkless chains and they never broke. Mine didn't even really stretch in 200K miles. I gave to my sister at 100K and she beat it to death for another 100K and sold it still running.

Additionally Toyota let low end Camrys out the door with drum rear brakes where Maximas always have quad disks even the low end ones.

This bout is clear-

The maxima holds the edge in longevity (or at least ties the sludge prone v6 toyo) it wins in long term maintenance cost with no belt - as well as chassis dynamics and performance with all disks.
