4runner needs new tires, Cooper tires any good?

Have you seen the Goodyear Ultraterrain AT? They are sold at Discount tire and priced very well. Some Tacoma guys are reporting 60k mileage out of them. I went with the LT275/70r18 on the Landcruiser.

I've used both the LTXs and AT3s. I drove my last truck with the LTXs and chose them because I was driving a lot more on roads and making interstate trips. Great tire, smooth and wore well and was 99.99% on pavement. On the current 4Runner, I have the AT3s (2nd set). I don't drive like I used to in the old truck and have gone off road a little bit. As I didn't want to spend money on a tire that would be way below the yearly average in mileage, I looked into the AT3s for a different, tougher look, but still have a good tire and they have fit the bill perfectly. I was actually driving on the freeway last night and thought how smooth and quiet everything was!

They are still a good looking tire, aren’t they?

New LTX at/2 is awesome. Just picked some out with someone I know for her newer wrangler. She loves them. Costco has a decent deal. They did push some BS about how the only install the stock size but if you order them and then leave them sit there for a while and show up later they put them on

I have a set of 5 on wife’s GX 460

Put them on at 95K miles….truck now has 155K

They still have 8/32” remaining !

Yes…60K and more to go

Although…yes they’ve gotten louder with miles

I'll repeat what others have already said. I've had good experience with Cooper tires in the past (before Goodyear acquisition) but value, depending on model and size, might not be as good as it used to be.

Cooper was good before Goodyear took them over. They don’t like to balance now and seem just not as well made. I had a set of the pre Goodyear era on my Escape then a pair after and the pair after wore way faster and had some balance problems but the white letters were awesome.

We put the Cooper Road+Trail on my father-in-laws Renegade. Smaller size than 4Runner. They are the softest riding out of what he had previously. Falken Wildpeak HT, Pirelli Scorpion AT, Falken Wildpeak AT Trail. He is all around town, some highway, no offroad but wants the look. These fit the bill and got good reviews on TR. So far no balance issues, only had them 5 months but they are nice and quiet and he is happy.
