Good point, as using conventional oil might be OK for the engine but it does need changing more often. You can use conventional oils for 10K mile OCI's if you have an engine that does not shear the oil too much and do mostly highway miles, BUT it does need to be checked with a few used oil analysis.
A lot of folks forget that useage and driver style are just as important as the oil used in terms of engine life, so clocking up 500K plus if you drive mostly highway like a Granny is very possible.
