A guy i work with has a 00 maxima with almost 500k in miles. I asked him what oil he used? He said Pennzoil conventional i thought wow changed every 5 k in miles cars runs good. Orginal motor and trans. You guys heard of stuff like this? He drives it everyday.

My friend Jennifer has a 98 Altima that has long passed the 300,000 mile mark on 3k oci`s with Pennzoil Conventional 10w30. Still runs like brand new!
I have heard of such things, and this is why I always say long live the VQ30. Nissan built the best V6 ever at that time.

my uncle had a 78 ford with a 460 that ran 430k on Pennzoil Conventional 10w40 every 3k miles, amazingly it didn't even smoke or use a lot of oil.
Not surprised at all.
And I've seen it with many different motors well into the high 300,000 mile range. And with Valvoline, Quaker State and so on.

The 4v I just put in my mustang has had nothing but Pennzoil Conventional since new. It's got 50000kms on it so its low mile but I couldn't believe how clean it was inside,under the valve cover.
Oil changes every 5000 miles/8000kms and its spotless. These 4v engines spin pretty high as far as a v8 is concerned and there isn't any sludge or residue or even varnish.
And 5w-20 since new. Even the cams look brands new. No wear scar to be seen or felt.

A lot of highway mileage really doesn't mean much anymore. Change all of the fluids on time (wash your car a lot if in a salt state) and a modern vehicle should keep going and going. Didn't realize that V6 was known to be so good on the Maxima.
My fil has a 92 f-150. We just pulled the engine and transmission due to every gasket leaking. It has 450000kms on it,all on conventional oil. He is a farmer. He has a drum of 5w30 and a drum of 15w40 for his farm equipment. The oil drums are co-op branded. He's used the same co-op stuff for decades.
Shows that synthetics are nice when extreme conditions are present however an engine that's properly maintained can't tell the difference.

Service manager at the Nissan dealership near me has a 94 300ZX twin turbo with close to 400,000 miles. Original everything,including turbos. Has used GTX 20W50 since new every 3k miles.
Our shop truck is @374k . It gets whatever oil is on sale and it gets it changed when I have time. Often in the 8k range. It still passes the California emission test and runs like a new truck. It leaks about a qt in 5k or so. I have no doubt that will hit 400k and more.
Good ole conventional oil proving you don't need high tech to get high miles.

Good point, as using conventional oil might be OK for the engine but it does need changing more often. I have a VQ3.0 and doing well with GTX. It will shear the oil a bit and leave some varnish as engine gets older. I will treat it with Pennzoil Ultra / Pennzoil Platinum or Mobil 1 Extended Performance once in a while. I wishes mine will see 500k.
That's alot of miles and it's cool to hear of stories like that. We own two vehicles that I believe have the potential to hit those kind of numbers, although it would take a long time!

IME the first gen maxima and first gen Acura legend were a couple of the best cars available for longevity.
Both are absolutely amazing...

Good for them but they gotta stay on the highways at that oci not stop and go. IMHO
