My daughter's car has Bridgestone's that are about the same age and they are cracking also. However, they also have 80K miles on them and tread wear is almost non-existent, which to me is crazy good for the mileage driven.

That damage looks like UV damage. Is the sun always baking that side of the car during the day? My moms tires turned that way after 2.5 years of straight sun baking basically
I was going to ask if all 4 are the same?
Send some pictures to continental and see what they will do for you?
I would run them for a while longer and watch for changes, but also start looking for tire sales too.

Car does sit in sun a bit in driveway

Should i use something like 303 to protect in future

And how longer should I expect these to safely last?
Yeah, looks like the sun got to them. That UV is no joke. Are the two on the shady side still good ??? If so, stick em on the rear,,,,and purchase 2 similar tires when you see a sale. Then buy some tire spray stuff with UV protection. I would just spray the tires that get the sun most of the time. Can't say how long those will last, but I would start looking for some sales.

Both rears are pretty equally bad. Fronts are not as bad but not far behind

Wow. Then all the tires were getting plenty of UV damage. Start looking for some sales and get some UV protectant spray. And they have plenty of meat left on them. What a shame -(.....

Staggered set-up - so, putting them on the rear isn’t really an option.

@BMW Dom - the Michelin Pilot AS4 have been great on both my Mercedes. An excellent tire.

First, weather cracking is highly dependent on temperature. Tires in - say - Phoenix don't last as long as tires in -say - Minneapolis. Also high speeds generate.more heat.

Then there is the issue of ozone. If you live near the coast, this might be a problem.

Does any of that apply here?

Are you in Arizona?

If you have tires that rot like that in 4 years, it's probably hot enough to just use summer tires year-round. Obviously the longest treadlife doesn't matter, as you're not going to use all of it before the tires age out due to cracking.

Walmart has the ContiSportContact 5 in both sizes at a good price :)

Other good choices in your size combo:
Yokohama Advan Apex V601
Vredestein Ultrac Pro

Of course there's Michelin PS4S, but they cost more

Was thinking about these

Those might rot even worse :sneaky:
A lot of people on here say that about Michelin

UV damage? I have a had tires on a old work van I now only use a few times a year crack with-in 3 -4 years and only 2 or 3K miles. You never know how long the tire dealer had those tires in stock...
I purchased silver tire covers from Amazon to protect my utility trailer tires from the sun / UV and works well, 3 years old and tires look new!

My local tire co that does installs for me sells Michelin and last set of tires I got from him he informed me that he was considering not selling Michelin in the future because he had so many warranty returns for sidewall cracking and premature dry rot. He had the Michelin in stock, but he suggested General Altimax RT45 at half the price, but I had to wait a day for the order to come. They have been great all last Summer and Winter.

The 205-55-16 tires -Cooper CS-5 Grand Touring) on my car -2007 Volvo V70- have 7k left on them. They're crumbling away too.
I was thinking about the Michelin Defender 2 "super tire", but after reading about Michelin's woes, I'm reconsidering.

There's so much flux in the tire world.....not as dismaying as oil filter quality waves, but still.
That General RT45 is in my mix.
A chain here called Mavis Tire has put their name on a Hankook tire (pretty sure) which they claim is 100,000 UTQG miles.
