New conti tires and a new noise?

I put these on my Camaro last Winter. There was some tread noise at the beginning, but no whomp whomp sounds

Try a different tire shop, these come with a year of road hazard warranty from Continental. So a tire replacement shouldn’t cost anything

Notice the noise level increases as they age, but new there is minimal if any noise. These are my "go-to" tires on all my vehicles when the correct size is available.

Hi. I recently replaced 4 new with same as previous based on excellent wear, mileage etc.

With old ones had a faint noise and I thought it was due to old tired, new ones more noises appeared, had it back to te shop, they rebalanced them and showed me they aren’t out-of-round.

Further testing while car was on the hoist indicated worn wheel bearings! Replaced both front and it solved it.

Consider there might be another issue causing the noise.

Hope you get it resolved.

I have DSW06+'s on my Spider and I too have a whoop whoop sound, but only around 40mph on smooth pavement. They have almost no vibration whatsover at any speed and above or below 40mph-ish they sound like any other tire. They required very little weight to balance and two of them dont have any balance weights at all.
Yeah mine is louder around 30 to 40 mph on smooth pavement too. You start getting to higher speeds and it just blends in with road noise ect. I can feel a slight vibration in the gas pedal at the moment too.

I went through 2 sets, different manufacturer runs and both were very bad at flat spotting. Doesn’t matter, as that tire’s sidewall is way too soft for may car. That was for my winter tire choice at the time, as my summer tire was a Michelin PS 3+. The Discount Tire manager suggested a stiffer side walled DT only A/S, a Continental Sport A/S that was stiffer the 06 plus, and it had no flat spotting. They have been discontinued a couple of years ago and I don’t know why. They where a way better tire across the board then the Extreme 06 plus. It will be my summer tire after running them this winter as my winter tires. They are 3-4 years old and at 3/4 tread. I need to get them on the summer rims before they are too old they won’t mount them, and before they are too old to be safe as “pushed sport tires”. A guy at work had flat spotting too with the Extreme 06 plus. They have a big problem there, and I always wondered why they keep selling tires that keep getting rejected in full sets for flat spotting. Just like Hyundai selling junk engines when they know 30%++ will be coming back for a full warranty with massive labor and hardware costs.

then I must have just gotten lucky with the 4 sets for 4 cars I have bought since 2018 (DWS-06 on the first 2 sets and DWS-06 Plus for the last 2)...

2013 Malibu 2.0T, 2014 CTS Sport Wagon, 2015 Chevrolet SS sedan and 2016 CTS V-Sport...the SS and V-Sport would sit out the Winter in the garage here in ChicagoLand and I've never experienced flat spotting with them

good luck with your choice

Humm. I think I figured out the noise. The tread is coming off the tire in that spot. I was at discount tire on Saturday and they double checked everything and found no issue. I think they just happen to not see it. Noise has been getting worse. Went back today for a price adjustment on tires because tire rack lowered the price of the tires about 40 bucks each, when I return back to work to park my car in the right spot and as I was walking around and the right front tire had this big bubble sitting on top of the tread and all squishy there. I then immediately called discount tire and told him what I found and the manager said “how did we miss that? I said I don’t know. I would like to know that myself anyways, they ordered a complete set of tires and should be getting them all swapped out tomorrow.

Wow, that'll definitely make a noise! Good find.

I've had no issues with my set of dws06+ but I have read about quality control issues, like yours, from other owners. I guess that's why they cost a little less than the comparable Michelin/Pirelli/Bridgestone.

edit: I just went to tirerack and they have dws06+ in my size (225/45/17) for $123 a tire. Lord that's cheap. Wonder what's up with such a low price.

At least 10 sets of DWS 06 and DWS 06 Plus on three different vehicles and no problems over the years. No flat-spotting, no tread separation, no bubbles, no unusual wear, no tire failures. They do get louder as the tread wears down but all tires do that.

I’ve had my fair share to and never an issue in the past.
2 sets of pure contacts on moms fusion
2 sets of extreme contacts on moms Lincoln MKC
1 set of true contacts on wife’s civic
1 set of cross contacts that were oem on my MDX
1 set of extreme contacts now with this issue

I also have not had any issues with the Continental CrossContact LX20 I have on my 2005 Yukon Denali but those have only been on my SUV since April of this year...

New tire installed and all seems well again. They didn’t knick my rim this time but I’m just so over the situation at this point I don’t even care.

I told you that you had a bad tire.

New wheel and sensor installed today and they also took a chunk of tire bead off too. I can’t win.

As if that’s not enough the other front tire is making a creaking noise like it also has a bad spot. I put a spare on and drive the MDX around the block with no noise so it’s the new tire.
Can I upload a short video of the noise? I don’t see how

Man, you are snake bit! That tire shop is very unprofessional.
You experience has steered me away from buying Continental as replacement tires.

Discount tire is going to replace all the tires and pay for the installation of the tires at a shop of my choice. Even upgrade me to a more expensive tire if I choose to. I was looking at the Michelin Pilot sport AS4 or the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3. I see pros and cons to both and I’m not sure what one to go with.

Michelin is going to have a more sporty ride and even the tire rack test say that it can be noisy on some surfaces. It also weighs less then Pirelli but according to the tire rack specs the tread measures about 3/4 of and inch wider then the pirelli.

The Pirelli would have a more plush ride and is suppose to be quiet with a noise cancellation system. It’s just foam inside the tire. Weighs like 6 pounds more a tire and has a more narrow tread.
