I did some dumpster diving in my trash but couldn’t find anything demonstrative.
I think I was recalling the endcaps of the NAPA that had the Filtech style (the fiberboard “washer” under a small metal endcap). The can on the Honda filter clearly says Made in USA and suggests Honeywell/Fram A02 and not the Filtech A01.
So it probably was an A02 after all, which makes more sense given the age and, as you astutely observe, the Fram date code.
