1.5 are great engines with strong bottom end, which more than I can say for others, cough (tundra). their Achilles heel was the head gasket. that was fixed six years ago.

I get it but at the same time you would want to replace that as well, same as a Honda water pump when doing the timing belt and tensioner you'd be stupid not too while you're already in there.

Yes and no, if the oil pump belt was as simple as dropping the sump and swapping the belt, I’d be a lot happier than having to tear the front cover off and do the chain at the same time. I will struggle to do any sort of serious mileage during the 10 year oil pump belt life, so my timing chain will likely be perfectly serviceable when the belt is due and I’d prefer to be able to leave the chain alone. Oh well.
